So apparently Keiji Inafune (original creator of the Mega Man series), after leaving Capcom some time ago has now started a campaign to finance an indie project called Mighty No. 9 -- a sidescrolling action game where you fight 8 enemy robot bosses and acquire new abilities by defeating them.

Does that formula sound familiar? Yes, yes it does....

So what do you guys think?

This is honestly the best thing that can be done with Mega Man. I mean, if Capcom is going to do something with Mega Man, it'd probably either be some sort of remake along the lines of Powered Up (and we all knew how that went down) or try their hand at something new that could suck and let the fans know that Capcom really does not care about him... which is probably true.

But this on the other hand... it's the sequel that fans have been wanting ever since Mega Man 10. A high quality, side scrolling shooter featuring a blue robot jumpin' and shootin', but with new game mechanics, like transformation. Not only that, but it has a great art direction judging by the character designs and the concept art. Even though I just found out about this today (through Instagram nontheless) I am super stoked for this, mainly because I like everything that's been put out so far and I trust the people behind this. It is the original Mega Man staff after all. The main theme is honestly amazing too. Listen to it. Now. Mega Man is one of my favorite franchises, so I cannot wait until this comes out!

"While the beloved creations of my past are no longer at my disposal, the spirit they were born from still is." - Keiji Inafune
