OK.. I saw a couple of these threads before so... What IS Milotic anyways? o_O; A worm? Sea Snake? Some form of Eel? Yet that doesnt explain the hair and horn... and weird tail... maybe some form of greek/norse Mythological creature?

I have always thought Milotic as a beautified Sea Snake aswell (I am new and you don't need to greet me).

Milotic is probably based on a sea serpent, made to look beautiful and elegant...even majestic. It is such a striking Pokémon, it really is quite beautiful.

Pretty sure the name Milotic came from a re-spelling of Melodic. o_O

I think Milotic is a combination of a sea serpent and the sirens, which are often depicted as mermaidish creatures. That would go with the whole Milotic-Melodic thing because sailors would get enchanted by their song and crash on the rocks.

I don't see why they would. Even if they caught one, it's not like they could use her to pleasure themselves. Look at that ep of Futurama with the Lost City of Atlanta. Fry didn't even know how to "do it" with one.

It wouldn't be a true snake because it has gills (those holes on the sides of it's neck.)

I think that Milotic is a beautiful version of a sea serpent, but it has lungs, which obviously goes against this theory. It could also be some form of newt with no legs that has been made ot look beautiful, but it comes from a fish, so that theories out. So now I have no idea.

Tell that to the octopus that comes from a remora fish. :p

Anyway, to me it seems to be a mermaid-ish sea serpent. It could also have dragonic elements to it, since one of its egg groups is, well, Dragon. (of couse, that applies to the Ekans family and Seviper as well, and those don't seem very dragon-y) It probably has both gills and lungs, IMO. (something which I suspect applies to most, if not all, Water Pokemon since they seem to get along just fine on land)

Milotic is probably some kind of axoltl-like creature, seeing as axolotls are the only animals I can think of with long external gills.

Well, it still relates with the Sea creatures that Milotic might fit into.

that's kinda streaching it though...

I still think Milotic is an elongated fish...

Maybe its based off of something from mythology. Its hair-like extentions from its head might suggest that it was based off some girl that was transformed into a sea creature? I have no idea if that kind of legend exists at all, but if it did, it would make sense, I guess. Or it could just be some interpretation of a sea-serpent, like I said before. It says its found at the bottom of large lakes. Maybe it has something to do with the Loch Ness Monster or another legend along those lines.

What I meant was that Milotic could be like an axolotl biologically, not in terms of what it was based on. In real life, it could be some kind of axolotl who forsook it's limbs in favour of a streamlined, serpentine body.
As for what it's based on, it could be based on Venus, the Roman Godess of beauty. According to legend, she was born from the ocean.
(Btw, yes I was the unregistered who suggested that Milotic was an axolotl)
