So I discovered a way to pass Wonder Guard to ANY pokemon. It uses a Shedinja with Mimic, plus a couple other setup mon. The only problem here is that to get a Shedinja with Mimic, I have to use the move tutor all the way back in Emerald, and then transfer that nincada to Moon. I own all the games I need to move it up, but I have two questions.

1. How far must I progress in each game to be able to use poke transfer, and once there, how do I use it? (Applies to games before pokebank, I know how to use that)

2. Can Mimic be passed on if the father knows it? I don't want to have to do all my breeding in Emerald first, because I cannot check the IVs easily there.

Thanks

From what I recall, the first limiter is whatever gen HG/SS is. I'm not entirely familiar with doing it in D/P/Plat, but in HG/SS you have to have reached and be able to use Pal Park (in Kanto) to port Pokemon forward from the previous games (where you are in the previous games is irrelevant, as I've ported forward Pokemon from LG after becoming Champion, FR after only like four gyms, and R/S/E from literally just getting the starter and one trash Pokemon). Oh, one more limitation of this is that you'll need a DS that can dual-slot the DS game and the GBA game. You can only transfer six at a time this way.

Once you've moved them to HG/SS the next limiter is B/W/B2/W2 (any of those four), in which you must have reached the Poke Transfer Lab on route 15. You will need two systems for this though.

After that, just use Poke Transporter from your DS main menu to transfer all Pokemon in Box 1 (and only Box 1) of your PC in B/W/B2/W2 game to a special Transporter box in Poke Bank. You will then need to move these into a regular Bank box before being able to port more Pokemon forward from B/W/B2/W2 (and of course you'll have to move the Pokemon in those games into Box 1 of your PC).

I dunno anything about breeding, though, so someone else will have to answer that part, soz

Thanks for that, I guess now the only problem is getting to the pal park in SS...... I've never actually gotten so far because the story splits in two at ecruteak and it got rather confusing in my first playthrough. I'm trying to do a speed run of B atm, and after that it should be fine I guess. Really sucks though that they didn't include all the tutors from Gen 3 in ORAS, would've helped a lot. Then again it's all worth it if it means I can get wonder guard onto any mon I want......

When breeding, a Pokemon will inherit an egg move only if it is eligible to learn that move in the generation it is bred. In the case of Nincada and Mimic specifically, Nincada can learn Mimic only in Gen 3; in any later generation it cannot learn the move by any means, therefore it cannot inherit the move when bred.

Damn, that sucks....... at least I only need perfect Atk and Spe stats. Thanks everyone, I think I have all the info I need now.

What was the Wonder Guard trick you were thinking of, anyway? Mimic Entrainment or something? I doubt it would work on Wonder Guard anyway....

Well wouldn't you like to know....... :)

It's simple, really. Needs to be a double battle though. Open with shed and a fast mon with entrainment, I use hawlucha. *IMPORTANT* if you use hawlucha, it MUST NOT have mold breaker that could be disastrous. Hawlucha uses entrainment, shedinja uses mimic on hawlucha. Swap hawlucha for whatever you want wonder guard on. Shedinja uses protect. Now, attack with whatever on the new mon, and use entrainment on said new mon. VOILA! you have a mon with wonder guard.

The only problem with that setup is that Entrainment probably can't copy Wonder Guard in the first place. BUT we don't have this confirmed, so ... by all means go ahead and test it.

Well it works on smogon....... so if they use the same rules as the game it should work by all means.

Anyway, you can test it even in Gen 5 - just take your two Pokemon into dark grass for those easy double battles.

It's also theoretically testable without a Mimic Shedinja, if you have a Pokemon knowing Trace and Entrainment, but that setup would be . . . complicated.
