He was rich. He was slick. He had perfectly oiled hair with not one strand out of place. And he was going on a date with her.
Delia wondered if she were hallucinating. Had she perhaps saved some starving orphans in another life to receive the good karma now?
Giovanni diRocketti, the most popular boy at their college, was actually asking her out on a date. She could not believe it. She wasn’t especially smart, or pretty, or talented. She didn’t even train pokemon. But he was asking her on a date!
Now, she stood in front of her closet. What should she wear? Did this count as casual? A nice shirt and shorts did not seem to cut it though. Maybe she could wear her kimono? It was still in good condition, light blue with a snowdrop petal pattern. But what if he preferred Western style dress?
Her hair! Maybe it was time to use the orchid conditioner she had been saving! Where were her hair clips? Surely she had something besides bobby pins? Was there time to go shopping?
In the middle of her musings, after a shower that took almost an hour, while she was still wearing a bathrobe, a knock came at the door.
Delia panicked.
It was already six-thirty! Where had the time gone?
She threw on the first outfit that she got her hands on. Giovanni raised an eyebrow when his date opened the door in a blue-and-white striped tank top and what looked like a black leather skirt, but wisely refrained from commenting. He likewise ignored the single spike in her hair.
“Have you got your textbooks ready?”
“Oh, yes.” She grabbed her backpack as they walked towards the coffee shop nearby.
Giovanni ordered espresso for himself, along with some biscotti, and got Delia a caramel frappe, despite protests.
“So… which part of Campbell’s theory were you having trouble with?”
“Well, I’m working on the Three Musketeers. I can find out where the Temptation of Woman comes in easily, since Milady is obviously the temptress, but what about the Meeting with the Goddess?”
“Would Athos fit this role of parental figure?”
“He’s a man though…”
Their conversation wore on, and Delia tried to concentrate, but Giovanni’s closeness was very difficult to ignore. When she suggested that perhaps Lord de Winter was a symbol for xenophobia, he just smiled.
Smirking, he leaned over and kissed her. “Will this help you concentrate?”
Her face flaming, she stared down at the text in her hands, and nodded.

Giovanni going on any sort of a date, in my opinion, is a miracle! Special-verse! Giovanni is especially unlikely, but anime! Giovanni always seems so grumpy and evil.
I assume Delia might have gone to college at some point. Giovanni probably did… when he wasn’t learning how to be an evil Team leader.
