What kind of misconceptions have you had about Pokemon and the world around it?

When I was younger I used to think that all Dragonite are as huge as the one in the episode called Mystery at the Lighthouse. Little did I know that they're actually smaller than their previous form Dragonair. I had the same kind of misconception about Tentacruel due to the episode Tentacool & Tentacruel. How I missed the fact that both were giant Pokemon, I have no idea.

I also thought that Hitmonchan is a girl Pokemon because it looks like it has a skirt and I connected the end of its name to the Japanese suffix -chan. I didn't realize it referred to Jackie Chan back then, so you can imagine how surprised I was when I found out that they're a male only species.

I used to think THE WHIRL ISLANDS CUP was in my Pokémon Crystal VIDEO GAME. XDD Boy was I disapointed in the end. :/

I also think I used to think certurn Pokémon were bigger/smaller than they really were, too...I had a lot of misconceptions, i'm sure of it.

If I remember anymore in perticular later, i'll be sure to have you informed. ;) ^^

I used to think Dratini evolved into Gyarados back when my best list of all the Pokémon was the Pokérap, and I had not caught a Dratini. I later got books, but until then I had to try to piece together the Pokédex from what I've seen in the anime and games.

I used to think that wailmer was a lot smaller than it really is :3

I used to think that Dragonair was the final evolution in the Dratini chain because I thought the name sounded cooler than Dragonite. :p

I always thought there were only one of each legendary pokemon like articuno.

I used to think if you registered something on "SEL" it meant you could sell that key item. I tried to sell my bike at least 10 times. :p

i used to think you had to battle every wild pokemon you found

These are funny. XD:mail:

And, I remember another one-I used to think Torkoal evolved from Magcargo, and was fire/rock, too, probably. o.o It make's sense, really....lol

I also used to think Delcatty was a new evolution for Eevee.XD Well, it DOES have a COLLAR.. Like several (though not ALL, as we well know from the newer evos, espesally Espeon and Umbreon) of Eevees evolutions.

This was back when R/S wasn't out yet and I would look at new Pokémon lists online, lol XD:flinch:

Sound's understandable to me...Though wouldn't it have made more sense it evolved from Dragonair? Although, I don't really know...

The DRAGON Glameow/Purugly..XDDD; haha^^

Me too! It look's all cute and plushie...n.n

Same here, I kinda thought Dragonite was a legendary Pokémon at first, I think...it REALLY doesn't look like it's pre-evos, anyways. :/ XD ^^;

I think I thought that, too..lol

This topic is fun XD ^^

I thought that mew evolved into mewtwo

Me too. o.0;; I think...

I also used to think Ice was weak to Water, and, Normal was Weak to Rock lol

Is Rock weak to Ice, or, not, by the way? Just asking to make sure...

I also used to think Jessie and James were brother and sister, I think...but I don't remember that well. lol (can you beleve THAT, though? XD:lol::bounce:)

I also used to think all Meowth's could talk...just like Jessie and James Meowth (till I saw episodes that proved otherwize).

PS: I'm not 100% sure I really thought up the bottom 2 as a kid....

(last one-I also thought that Tracy would return again after Johto, to continue some kind of 'paturn'. XD That would actually be pretty cool, Tracey rocked...^^)

I used to think that once you walked into a gym, you couldn't leave until you finished or got knocked out. Man, I had bad times with Witney (Er... Spell?).

Also, I thought that once you were whited/blacked out, that you had to immediately go to the pokemon center behind you, or you'd be screwed in a battle. I got curious one time, and checked. I felt SO STUPID. Well, I would've learned in D/P anyway...

I used to think you had to KO legendaries to complete the storyline, dang I was wrong and know better now.

I used to think there was a PINK boat going about the water routes in R/S and that it was so rare it would be almost impossible to find, but if you find it your given something very special.

getting 100 weeks so I could see if Space Center worked in R/S/E to get to Jirachi on moon (I am still waiting to know)

If in Sapphire you bring a lv100 Kyogre (the one you caught) back to cave of origin and went to where it was found, if you go to corner of the watery area and used dive, you were taken to another cave where a trainer had the three legendary dogs and you could challenge him.

when i first played pokemon, i thought all types were effectve aganst each other. I learned they werent after losing a gym battle over and over and over......

I used to think Missingno. was a real Pokémon. :p

I used to think Red was Ash. :-/

Having never seen an episode of the Advance Generation, the first time I saw the DVD cover of Jirachi: Wish Maker, I thought May was Misty. And I said "Oh my God, Misty, what did you do with your hair!"

I thought the anime Mewtwo would say its name like any other Pokémon. That was obviously before I saw Mewtwo Strikes Back.

I used to think Togepi evolved into Chansey. What? They're both associated with eggs...

Ice isn't weak to Water, but it is indeed weak against Water. The same goes for Normal and Rock.

And nope, Rock isn't weak to Ice - actually, Rock is super effective against it.

I was 100% convinced I'd be able to catch Togepi/Marill in Yellow, because after all, they were in the anime :p
