I have the Viz version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. There are some questions I have to ask. You see, there are a lot of confusing things in this manga and it could be some misprintings.

One is, when they play the RPG against Bakura, Jonouchi's character is named Joey. In my friend's manga (not from Viz), it is Jono instead of Joey.

I also noticed that Jonouchi hates to be called Joey in the later volumes. An American called Keith(?) calls him that.

The other confusing thing is, the card game. It is introduced in the second volume and is called Magic and Wizards. But in later volumes it is called Duel Monsters! There is no explanation why the name was changed!

So I ask my friend about the other version of YGO (from a magazine with various manga) and he tells me it is always called Magic and Wizards.

I know Viz is not to be trusted when it's about Pokemon, but the YGO version seems all right. You read right to left and they haven't censored things like big breasts or anything like that (or at least not what I know). I think there are less swearing and use of "¤%&%¤" instead, but it is a minor edit after all.

So, if any one has the first edition or any Japanese version of YGO, please help me with this. Why are the versions different and what about the card game? Does it have two names?

The card game was called "Magic and Wizards" in the manga, but the anime changed it to "Duel Monsters" for some reason. Jounouchi's RPG character was named Jono. Seems like som dub-ism managed to sneak it's way into their translation (though the Duel Monsters name might've been used due to Viz not wanting to confuse the kiddies who watched the anime).

Thanks for the info. I know Viz is not very popular for translating manga.
