Deoxys = missingno. Why? I'll give a few reasons:

1. Missingno, in the block form, has a high attack stat and a low defense. The first forme of Deoxys that was accessible, the Normal Forme, had high Attack and Special attack but low defense and special defense.

2. Missingno was a bug in R/B/Y's programming inserted by an outside source (the developers of the game), while Deoxys was a virus that came from an outside source (outer space).

3. Missingno has different forms that are sometimes mistaken for missingno in general, like M' and the Aerodactyl/Kabutops fossils. Deoxys has four formes.
 
I'm not quite sold on this theory, but you might want to add that both Missingno. and Deoxys are associated with islands in the vicinity of Kanto.
 
^^; Missingno. is just a glitch, dear. He was never meant to be a real Pokemon.
 
Missingno was never intended to be anything more than just some garbled coding being shoved into a Pokémon slot.
 
No, that iss Deoxys. Missingno. was according to rumours supposed to be a baby kanghaskan and then deleted, leaving missingno. as a glitch.

That would be 'M. Its actually a different "Pokèmon" who just so happens to evolve into Kanaskan (at level 1...)
Missigno and M are the game trying to read your name as a Pokèmon, which is why they're sometimes different, it depends on what your character is called (I believe Missigno is most common since many just call the guy "Ash". I usually got 'M)
 
Missingno. was made to be a crapslot to prevent glitches with uncoded areas of grass.
Deoxys was made to be a pokemon

Missingno is a bird/normal type (lol, bird)
Deoxys is a physic type

Missingno. causes glitches
Deoxys is stable

Well even if they DID make a Pokèmon based on Missigno I doubt they'd actually make it so it ruins your game. :loopy:
Still I gotta say:

Basically every Pokèmon in that case comes from an "outside source". Its not like the game cartridge itself makes new Pokèmon, it needs developers to do so.

Shaymin, Giratina and Rotom also have different forms. And Missigno is as mentioned the main character's name read as a Pokèmon (which it was never intended to be obviously) and since most players have different names Missigno and its cousins appear in different forms.
 
I think it may be possible that Deoxys was BASED off of Missigno., but they are definately not the same.
 
I like it when people make these threads and then when a the majority of the people in the thread disagree, they never come back to the thread.
 
Missingno was never intended to be a real Pokemon. Deoxys is a real Pokemon.

End of story. In other words, I agree with Zesty Cactus.
