Ok, guys, there is apparantly a convention dedicated entirely to Misty that is going to happen on May the 18th. I learned of it from a friend on Pokecommunity, who learned of this from this website:

http://kasumispecial.web.fc2.com/home.html

She said that there is going to be a convention dedicated entirely to Misty, it's going to take place on May the 18th, at 11:30am to 3:00pm (11:30 [] 15:00), Japanese time zone, and it's going to be at Nagoya, according to her translation from the website.

This seems very crucial for Misty. I mean, unless I am mistaken, Misty is the only main pokemon character (if not the only ANIME main character) to actually have an Anime convention dedicated completely to herself. I mean, I doubt that even ASH acquired this honor. For all we know, this could signal something... about a certain fan controversy...

Sorry if this is in the wrong place mods, but I figured it was important enough for the anime to mention it here, and anyways, if Mayumi Iizuka's controversial blog got referenced in the Anime section, I think this should be here as well.

So...what, are you going as Psyduck to annoy all with desperate entreaties to love Misty and hate "The Female Anime Stereotype" (you mean like tsundere aren't a stereotype?) with passion?

Ok, First off, I KNOW that Misty is of a stereotype (jeez, how many TIMES do I have to tell you?!), and I was CLEARLY referencing how those girls acted in "Princess vs. Princess" for one example of the Female anime stereotype, which is something that Misty didn't act like.

Secondly, I can't GO to the convention because it's being held during a school week (May the 18th or May the 15th, take your pick), and I don't wish to skip school (especially considering that the week it's held on is finals week in my area). Believe me, If It wasn't for the fact that I had school, then, expensive or not, I will Make sure to get there. However, I can't mention my anger towards the Female Anime Stereotype, because I can't speak Japanese. If I was able to, then Maybe I would do it (though in a discreet manner so I won't tick them off.)

You know, judging by what sort of fans Misty has, I'm truly afriad of what might happen if a bunch of them got together in real life. Just what sort of mayhem and hilarity would abound?

Honestly, this kind of thing isn't so uncommon. Haven't heard of a Misty one before, but then again, I don't exactly follow the scene. This is what we call an "-only event". It's not a convention in the American sense. Think Comike, if you know what that is, just on a much smaller scale. Basically just a collection of doujinshi circles selling their latest releases, all of which (in this instance) are based around Kasumi. Depending on the rules, that might mean she's the lead character in all the doujin, or just that she features strongly in them. Don't see anything from a casual glance about if they're only general doujinshi, or if they're including ero hon in there as well. Either way, it goes without saying that it's not going to be an officially supported event. These things almost never are.

All this really shows us is that there's a continuing fandom for the character over in Japan. Doesn't really tell us if she's more popular (or less popular) than others.

Probaly some club or something meeting. I can't see any convention hall, large or small, renting something out for a subject with a small fanbase, compared to an entire series, game, or movie.

Somewhat off-topic that artwork on their front page is cute :)

I don't see anything like this happening, Misty's fans are rather mature and get along very well so a group of them getting together would not be too much of a bad thing. When I saw the word convention I assumed this would be like an anime convention such as the ones we have in the US. I doubt that someone involved with the Pokemon anime in Japan would be there because it might be rather embarrassing for them to say they don't have plans to bring Misty back even for a short time in the near future considering the reaction that might go around.

It's not a club meeting, or anything like that. The best way to describe it to you who are familiar with US conventions is to basically take the dealers room from those conventions, but have every stall there some fans selling their own fan created manga, fanfiction, fanart, etc, of the characters involved in this event.

Just you watch...it's gonna be a bunch of men in their 40's trading naked pictures of Kasumi that they've drawn. And they'll all wear stretched-out shirts featuring Kasumi's face like that one maid cafe episode of Diamond & Pearl.

There are conventions like this for all characters in Japan, I remember at SPP someone said there was a Paul/Reiji one starting in Japan soon. I don't technically see why this is news, this has nothing to do with the anime whatsoever. Its just a fan gathering to celebrate their favorite character.

Given that we only see Misty for like two eps every 100 episodes now, I suppose she'll cameo in D/P eventually but probably not till the tail-end of it.

The event is probably going to smell like week-old ramen, pocky and worse things (If this was an M-rated forum I'd delve into what these worse things might be).

Where's my Zoey convention?

Screw Zoey. I want my Harley convention, NAO!

Has anyone ever seen a Harley cosplayer in real life? It would be hilarious if anyone pulled it off. Has anyone come across any pics of it online?
