News Misty returns in Portugal!

Here in Portugal the Sinnoh League is now being aired. Next Monday the end of Ash vs Paul battle will air.
In the same day the Portuguese version of "An Old Family Blend Aired!" (here "Os Heróis de Kanto, Johto e Hoenn!", which (translated) is "The Heroes of Kanto, Johto and Hoenn!") a video of Misty wishing good luck to Ash popped on Youtube! We were able to contact Misty's Portuguese original voice actress to record a small good luck speech for Ash!

I'll try to translate it for you:
"Hi Ash! It's me, Misty! I hope everything is alright with you, Brock and Pikachu. I want to wish you good luck for the Sinnoh League, win that thing, go Ash! I miss those times when we travelled together, me, you and Brock, fighting Team Rocket. I remember it so well, we've been through a lot!... Everything's great here! Psyduck hasn't changed a bit, but the trainers that come for the Cascade Badge aren't having an easy task, mainly because of my Staryu, which has become a champion! I'm getting closer to becoming the greatest Water-type Pokémon Master in the world! Sometimes Tracey visits me and, oh!, I saw your mom the other day! I have also seen your Squirtle some days ago, with Officer Jenny. I miss you all a lot... I hope I see you soon! And, Ash Ketchum, this is an order, you have to win the Poké-League!".

I think it's pretty cool. It's obviously unofficial and non-canon, but I really think this seems pretty canon, if we want it to be. I think it was a nice gift for the older Portuguese viewers of Pokémon!

But (assuming this is real), I think that was a really cute gesture of her ^_^ I think the voice actor has a really good grasp on her character, perhaps a bit sentimental, but I could see her current personality saying something similar.

I think this is really nice gesture to all Misty fans and in general older viewers of pokemon.
Its good to know that Misty popularity is still going strong with people not forgetting her,and its nice from her Portugal VA that she decided to dedicate some time to record speech of Misty encouragement to Ash.

Dialogue is definitely something along the lines i would expect Misty to say,and she captured character tone pretty good.Going by Misty becoming more playful and outgoing after becoming more mature,i could definitely picture her to act that way.

Only thing which perhaps clashed abit with canon was line of coming closer toward becoming water master,seeing how in canon it was showed otherwise requiring traveling and competing in water competitions like Whirl Cup.

But i wont nitpick because she did great job,and thank you for posting this here sharing it with us.

Who said the VA "left" ?... Misty's Japanese VA voiced the character all the time and returned to voice her every time the character returned - there's no reason to believe she won't return to voice her next time she'll appear (if she'll appear at all)
People said this ridiculous "VA left" thing as an excuse to Gary "leaving" at the end of Johto, yet Gary appeared a few times since then and in every one of them, his VA returned to her role...

It's not like live-action where if an actor leaves, so does the characters most of the time.

Well, there are some cases where live action replaced actors too... though yeah, it happens rarely compared to with VAs
But if there will ever be a case where the VA won't be available for whatever reason, then yes, they'll just replace the VA... it's not relevant at all to wether the characters will appear or not...

Anyway, that was very nice of the VA to record for fans - did she make up the dialogue or did you write it for her?
I probably could do something similar here with our VAs, but I won't bother to try XD it's nice, but I don't see it important enough to try asking the VAs I know to do it (and if I'd ever do anything like this, it'll probably have more to do with Dawn and not with Misty, to be honest XD )

Its basically the same thing 4kids would do. A dub company would alter dialogue or add in some clips that weren't there in the original.

Not sure why they bothered though, Misty never appeared in DP anyway and might never appear in BW, so what's the point?

It's nothing like 4Kids did since it's not an official thing... and no one tried to pretend it's a part of the show in any way... it's just a cute, short recording on youtube, by a VA for the fans - whoever likes it can enjoy it and whoever against it (or just isn't interested) could simply choose to not listen to it
And obviously the fact Misty didn't appear in DP/BW is exactly the reason they did it... if she'd appear there won't be much of a reason to do this... seriously... you don't have to reply here, you know (oh wait, "Misty" was mentioned...)

She did Haruka too I believe, I know her, she played Warcraft to me for 2 years and has done other characters.

She probably just did it for fun nothing else.

VAs aren't that big here Cyber, unless you are working for Disney.

I didn't watch Hoenn, only Kanto and Johto in portuguese, I did watch some episodes and yeah I think their voices are kinda alike, that is why I believe she did her voice too.

When I played with her, she told me she did Kasumi from pokemon and Sakura from Naruto and if I'm not wrong she did Haruka too, not sure and since I haven't talked to her for some years or have any way of contact with her I can't confirm.

I'll check youtube for portuguese versions and compare voices.

We bascily have the american version translated here.

Yeah she did Kasumi in Master quest and Haruka till Advance battle I believe, she was kinda tired of doing it at the time so I'm not sure if its her.

Kasumi had 3 VAs so that one is probably not the one I know, its probably the first one since I remember the voice better, I say this because I started watching less and less dubs at the end of Johot/start of Hoenn.

Edit: Or not I'm fucking confused haha, apparently she did SATOSHI not the girls... a friend told me right now and gave me a link, nevermind my post, she did Sakura in pokemon though.

Zoro, you're confused. May was voiced by an actress named Carla and later Isabel Ribas.
This Misty's voice actress is called Helena Montez, and she voiced Misty until the middle of Johto and in every movie Misty was featured (thus, she is the most famous voice of Misty, considered as the TRUE Misty).
The VA who played with you is maybe Bárbara Lourenço, who voiced Ash from Master Quest to Advanced Challenge. She has also voiced Sakura from Naruto, yes.

The script was written by fans, and it was for a blog: O Anime Pokémon em Portugal .
Though she was not paid for the job, she gladly accepted to do it, as it was her return to one of her most relevants characters. Aside from Misty, the only main characters she played were Delia Ketchum, Cassidy and Nurse Joy.

I doubt any other dub company would care enough to do so. From what I gather fans got Misty's Portugese VA to do this. Probably Pokeshippers who were disappointed she didn't appear in DP.
