So I recall this coming up a couple months ago somewhere and was just randomly wondering: what does everyone think happened to Jessie's mother? Did that avalanche really kill her or is she still wandering the Andes searching for Mew to this day?

I'm inclined to think the latter... because Miyamoto continuing to give her monologues after her death just seems a bit too spooky. Plus, Giovanni says the whereabouts of Miyamoto are currently unknown only at the end of the CD, right after Miyamoto tells the listener that Jessie's in her twenties.

In any case, what does everyone think? I'm interested in seeing which direction the numbers lean.

It's not uncommon in Japanese stories to have people give monologues to the audience after they pass away. I think any spookiness you felt was intentional.

Honestly, I could go either way with it. Rockets seem to be indestructable, plus she's related to Jesse, who's practically immortal. And she has her daughter's tenacity, and would more than likely be the sort to chase the same creature for 20 years.

On the other hand, at least Jesse calls the base every now and then. Miyamoto would have to be out in the wilds 100% of the time to not do that, because it's not like there's no towns in the Andes.

There's also the chance that she survived the avalanche but died sometime in between.

I get the feeling that if Miyamoto is still around, she wouldn't have any idea so much time passed, and would be very surprised to find the Rockets under new leadership. "Let me speak to the Boss. ...Uhhuh. Put your mother on. I said PUT YOUR MOTHER ON! She's going to be very cross with you when she finds out you're claiming to be the Boss, you know!"

Still, you'd think Giovanni would say she was KIA instead of leaving it up in the air (As he did say that Miyamoto's whereabouts are unknown, which would imply a possibility that she survived.).

I say she's dead. It would've been hilarious if she was still alive and just had amnesia or something bizarre like that, but... nah. Miyamoto just serves to show that Jessie's life really freakin' sucks (and that's why she keeps making shit up about her life).
