The only thread that talked about this was dead

To put a Monotype simply, you can only use pokemons of one type.Dual types are okay,as long as it have the chosen type.In lack of options, your starter may be used untill this type can be found.

Anyone did or wants to do?
I'm doing a Fighting type on White.Intended Team is Emboar,Scrafty,Sawk,Mienshao and whatever I find on DW

Hmm... A dark type team, perhaps?

Bisharp, Houndoom, Honchkrow, Absol, Tyranitar, and Crawdaunt.

I did HeartGold with a full Steel-type team actually - Metagross, Skarmory (with Brave Bird), Empoleon, Aggron (with Head Smash), Lucario and Magnezone. Obviously I had to trade Magneton back to Platinum to evolve it, but all I did otherwise was give the eggs to the new trainer.

Water-types can be very vertasile with the many unique type combos. For instance: Lanturn (water/electric), Swampert (water/ground), Swanna (water/flying), Kingdra (water/dragon), Starmie (water/psychic), and Ludicolo (water/grass) can prove to counter all weaknesses given TM movepools.

Considering that I have trained a lot of Flying-types, I could start a mono team based on that.
It would consist of Crobat, Fearow, Skarmory, Staraptor, Gliscor, and Salamence.

I always liked Ghost.

Chandelure, Golurk, Cofagrigus, Spiritomb, Gengar, and Drifblim.

I favor the Steel-type myself, and I definitely have enough Pokémon to form a full team off the top of my head: Magnezone, Aggron, Steelix, Scizor, Lucario, Metagross, Bronzong, Empoleon and I plan on training a Bisharp soon and an Escavalier at some point. Mixing and matching those, my best lineup would probably be Metagross-Magnezone-Steelix-Scizor-Aggron-Lucario, with Bisharp and Escavalier respectively jockeying to replace Aggron and Scizor and Bronzong as occasional backup.

Coincidentally, my URPG team is all-Steel to test how monotyping works in that system. It's actually not as one-sided as you would think.

If I ever try it I'll use Ghost type. My team would consist of: Chandelure,Jellicent,Mismagius,Rotom,Golurk and Frosslass.

Water-types are too damn versatile. I wouldn't even consider a Water-type team a "mono-type" team because Water has way too many advantages and not enough disadvantages.

I did a Water one of Emerald a long time ago. My team was:

Swampert
Pelipper
Walrein
Wailord
Tentacruel
Lanturn

It was fun, and I'm thinking of doing something for White or Black sometime soon.

I once did a playthrough of HG using only Water-types.

Feraligatr
Slowbro
Quagsire
Tentacruel
Red Gyarados
Poliwrath

It was alright. I stopped after the 8th Gym though.

I had a Water team back in Emerald after I beat the game.
Wailord, Swampert, Gyarados, Milotic, Sharpedo, Luvdisc.

I almost exclusively base my teams around certain themes, usually a type. Second run of Gen V was a grass monotype, next run I plan to do Ghost. I like to monotype partially because it teaches me respect for certain types. I also feel that it makes me a better battler, fighting with such a restriction placed upon me; it makes future victories all the more satiating.

I'm a big fan of ground types. I try to switch out for a Marowak, Sanslash, Steelix, Flygon, Garchomp, and maybe a Swampert.

Dark types are my favorites, and due to the nice variety of dual-Dark types, I love creating monotype or near monotype Dark teams.

I'm doing a monotype playthrough on Black right now.
Using electric types only, right now I have Emolga, Pikachu, Luxio and Blitzle. The Pikachu was traded over from White, Luxio is from the dreamworld.

I'm thinking of doing a grass monotype on my Platinum game. It sounds like fun, since I LOVE grass types!
