More English Names

Wasn't sure if this should go in a previous thread on English names or not. If so, many apologies. o_x;

According to Serebii, US names are being revealed at the 2007 Toy Fair on some new Pokemon toys by Jakks Pacific.

Naetle = Turtwig
Hikozaru = Chimchar

Not confirmed 100%:

Bippa = Beappa
Mukkuru = Staris
Pinpuku = Happini
Floatsel and Pachirisu remain the same

And more to come, apparently.

.. And the name Turtwig makes me giggle. XD

Lmao at Turtwig. The name amuses me a lot for some bizarre reason. Chimchar sounds like they combined Chimeco and Charmander... weird, but I'll get used to it.

So Pachirisu stays the same? Yay. It looks like the tradition of keeping the "Pikachu clones"'s names remains.

I'm worried for Pochama's name now.

As long as they don't call it Chilly Willy....

Chimchar makes sense and is my favourite of those. It sounds a bit alike to Charmander but the same similarity is seen in Hitokage/Hikozaru.

Turtwig is kinda cute, but dammit, I keep parsing the words wrong. Rather than reading it as turtle+twig, I just keep thinking turtle+wig. ;; Oh Naetle, I'm so sorry.

I also like the sound of 'Staris' for Mukkuru, even though it looks like a typo for 'stairs'. Ahaha~

Toy Fair is currently going on - I believe the event runs from the 11th to the 14th this year.

Staris, Buneary, Glameow, Carnivine = Genuinely clever and pretty cool.

Floatsel, Pachirisu, Pochama = Huzzah!

It looks like Greggle's name starts with "Croak", Drapion's name starts with "Scorp", and Karankushi's name starts with "Slu", but I can't make out the rest.

Chimchar = Pretty stupid and too reminicent of Charmander

Keeping Pochama is incredibly stupid (the last time they kept a Starter's name, it at least came from an English word.), though I'm happy I don't have to change my habits with the little twitguin, and after repeating the name in my head several times, I think Turtwig is all kinds of adorable.

This generation, 90% of the Pokemon will keep their Japanese names in my head. What happened? Why are all the names so ridiculously shitty now?
