From the reports coming in about "Rivals Forever", Gary has invited Ash to Shinou. From what we can see, he is still a researcher, yet before he was based on an islands lab just off the coast of Kanto.

Does this mean we'll be seeing more of him in the next saga? And if so in what role? He appeared to be questioning his choices in his hoso so anything is possible at this point.
 
I really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Really. Hope he becomes the rival again.

Though I guess it's down to his VA more than the writers. A 4 year break though should surely be enough for anyone. Especially when your character only shows up every couple of months.
 
I looked on ANN, and I don't see his VA doing any new work in a while.

And Pokeani were talking about it being unfortunate some VA was absent, but they may of been refering to Gio's.
 
I know he's not with us, I was refering to Gary's. But yeah, they may of been talking about Gio's.
 
So why was Gary written out of most of AG in the first place?

To only have him appear twice, (the Hoso and the new ep) out of a nearly 200 episode series is pretty crazy.

What was up with the VA after all this time?
 
If Ash joins Hikari then Gary's research experience would certainly come in handy in the new plot-based anime. His battle experience would also make him a suitable replacement for Brock's tactic explanations.

(Not that a want to get rid of Brock. It's just that Gary joining the group suddenly seems plausible.)
 
Ash and Gary need to have their long awaited Pikachu Vs. Umbreon rematch.

It always bothered me how neither used Pikachu or Umbreon in their Johto league match. Considering Pikachu lost to it when it was an Eevee, I'd lost to see Ash beat his Umbreon this time.

Is there really any word from Gary's VA that he's going to play a major role next saga? Sounds interesting.
 
Maybe Hikari and Gary are....working together. Like Hikari is trying to stop Team Galaxy, why Gary is researching Dia and Paru, and he calls Ash over hoping he could help maybe, and do Gyms as well?
 
That so ties in! It's a possibility, and it wouldn't be a bad idea, gives the anime more of a focus. Ash could continue winning badges, battling trainers, and if May remains, she'll engage in the Super Contests.

On the DP poster featuring Hikari, it was implied that she'd be associated with the legendaries. That compliments (sp?) Gary's researching role. It works out!
 
^ I'd certainly take a cast of Ash, May, Hikari and Gary.

It sure beats the alternative, at any rate.
