In RBY, I must admit that the Gym Leader I had the most trouble with was ironically, Misty. Her Starmie sure packed a punch, and Pidgeotto wasn't fast enough to kill it, the wimpy Pikachu I caught in Viridian inflicted little damage, and alas, my poor Charmander was out in one hit! Even playing the Games with Bulbasaur as a starter was difficult. Vine Whip didn't hit hard enough, and I didn't always get Razor Leaf in time (leveling up takes time, and I'm impatient...). I've heard however, that using Wartortle is very useful.

I think that in Gen I (and FRLG), it depended on your starter. If you chose Charmander, than it was always Brock for me. If I chose something else, it was usually Sabrina as the hardest (damn Alakazam always got me).

In Gen II, it was Whitney and that Miltank for me. 'Nuff said.

In Gen III, was always Tate and Liza. The double battle meant that you couldn't just train one pokemon to the extreme like in other games (I learned that the hard way), and that Solrock and that Lunatone would never go down. It was harder in Emerald since they had 3 more pokemon, and it was hard to seperate Solrock and Lunatone from each other.

With DP, it was Fantina. Her ghosts never fell to my attacks, and her pokemon were too high leveled for me. But in Pt, since she was made easier, I'm going to have to go with Candice for that Abomasnow.

1: Misty (I never start with Bulbasaur)
2. Claire and Whitney tie (I will kill that Kingdra and Miltank one day)
3. Tate and Liza (and you probably all agree)
4. Hmm... I don't really have one at the moment. Don't own the game myself so I haven't faced all leaders.

In Gen I, Brock can be hard if you pick Charmander or play Yellow, but Sabrina was the hardest because nothing good is strong against Psychics in this Gen. Everyone became pushovers in FRLG, though.

Gen II... Whitney, definitely Whitney. Goddamn that Miltank.

Everyone in Gen III is a giant pushover. Even Liza and Tate. My Water Pokemon were too strong for any of their Pokemon to bother me.

In Gen IV... it really depends. In D/P... well, again, a bunch of pushovers (Gym Leaders are so lame), and Volkner was the hardest only because he was the last Gym Leader and I had to rely on pure force rather than type weaknesses (I rarely train Ground Pokemon or Pokemon with Ground moves). In Platinum, though, Fantina was definitely the hardest for me. Goddamn that Mismagius, it was just too fast.

Generation I: Hmm... I don't really remember. I think I've had trouble with... haha, nobody.
Generation II: Clair. Oh gosh... I was REALLY happy when I had finally beaten her Kingdra.
Generation III: Winona. Her Altaria was very annoying.
Generation IV: No one.

1. Either Koga or Sabrina, depending on which you chose to battle first (the other then became much easier). At that point in the game, my pokemon were in the mid-high 30s, and beating all trainers with ease. Then we face the leader with level 50 Pokemon.
2. Whitney, same as everyone else.
3. Norman wins for Hoenn.
4. Fantina in Diamond and Pearl, Volkner in Platinum.

As you can see, mine are based around how easy it is to be underleveled at the time.

I. Misty! It took forever, even with a Pikachu (which also took forever to find)
2. I remember having trouble with Morty the first time I played through.
3. WINONA @_@ also Tate & Liza
4. Maylene was tough.

1. Misty
2. WHITNEY!! I HATE HER MILTANK!
3. Liza and Tate.
4 Fantina! MISMAGHAX! >:O

This may seem contraversial, but I DESPISED Bugsy in Generation II. Fury cutter beasted me repeatedly. :(

Gen 1: Sabrina. Because it's just so jarring. All of a sudden, you're up against a L:50 pokemon. There is no way you could be close to that level unless you were training very few pokemon.

Gen 2: Either Whitney or Morty. That Miltank is a PAIN, as everyone said. Morty has cheap tactics, but probably not as bad as Whitney.

Gen 3: I will go with Liza and Tate as well. I've always managed to win against them, but it's a battle of attrition. Solrock and Lunatone take a ton to kill.

Gen 4: The leader I had the most problems with was Candice. My pokes were nearly dead when I defeated her.

I'll admit, that scyther was a pain to fight, especially since Bugsy's other pokemon were so, so weak. But Bugsy doesn't even compare to the Miltank of Death or the Kindra-gon.

1st gen: Misty. This quite nicely describes why. F*** you, Starmie.

2nd gen: Can't think of anyone, but if I had too chose, Bugsy and that Scyther. Wasn't completely evil, but quite of a challenge.

3rd gen: Brawly. Stupid Makuhita...

4th gen: Again, not much. Possibly Maylene. Her Lucario always seems to take out at least one of my pokes before going down.

Gen 1 leaders were toooooo easy.

Gen 2: Screw Whitney and Clair. Chuck's Poliwrath gives me nightmares

Gen 3: um.......no one?

Gen 4: The only one I had trouble with was Maylene (force palm is teh gay)

Gym leaders aren't really hard to me tbh.

gen I: I guess Misty since I always chose Charmander

gen II: never had trouble with any of them

gen III: Tate and Liza. Like everyone else.

gen IV: never had issues, but if I had to choose, I guess I'd pick Fantina.

Gen 1: Misty. Seriously, overlevelled Starmies... At least for me. They one-shotted Pikachu in Yellow...

Gen 2: Whitney, definitely. Though, I slammed through Bugsy with a single Pidgey... And I got through Clair first try. But then again, I used cloned traded overlevelled Machokes...

Gen 3: Tate and Liza. 'Nuff said. Makes it even harder with my screwy team then. My main Pokemon were Manectric and Breloom.

Gen 4: I got through Fantina easily. Though, Maylene gave me major troubles. Seriously, that Lucario made me want to Force Palm a wall...

It depends on what Pokemon I start with but here it is.

Gen 1: Misty if I chose Charmander, Lt.Surge if I chose Squirtle.

Gen 2: Clair, none of the gym leaders are really that hard this gen unless you count the Kanto ones but they aren't that bad either.

Gen 3: Winona, it always takes me a few times to beat her for some reason.

Gen 4: Volker, his Raichu and Luxray gets my Empoleon which is usually my strongest Pokemon at that point in the game.

First gen: Misty. Even if I started with Bulbasaur (which I barely ever do), I'm never at a high enough level to beat that damn Starmie because I always rush through.

Second Gen: Whitney. Miltank + rollout.

Third Gen: First time through I had trouble with Tate & Liza, second time through I had trouble with Norman. I guess I'll say Norman since he has those damn Slaking.

Fourth Gen: Really didn't have trouble with any of them. I'm pretty sure I beat them all on my first try both times I ran through the game. If I had to pick one, I guess it would be Maylene since her Lucario threw me off a little bit.

First: Misty was indeed quite hard, but not as much as Sabrina imo.

Second: Claire and her Kingdra always give me a hard time. Whitney used to be hard, but last time I played on Gold I swept her with a Pineco, using Rollout.

Third: Tate and Liza, but I also had trouble with the electric guy last time I played.

Fourth: Haven't played any of the 4th generation games yet, so I wouldn't know.

Gen I: Misty because if you didn't choose Bulbasaur as a starter you haven't had a chance to catch anything which works well against water-types (Pikachu doesn't count due to his abysmal defense)

Gen II: Claire for her Kingdra.

Gen III: Winona. 'nuff said.

Gen IV: Fantina was tough in DP, but not so in Pl.

Gen I: Heck, there weren't any hard gym leaders.
Gen II: Clair and her stupid Kingdra
Gen III: Tate and Liza. the Xatu/Solrock combo gets on my nerves.
Gen IV: There wasn't any hard gym leaders
