My most unexpected powerhouse was breloom in emerald. I caught it as a back up pokemon just in case my mudkip fainted when I battled roxanne. It evolved into breloom just before I battled flannery and beat norman's last slakng. Once it learned sky uppercut it was almost unbeatable! It easilybeat most of glacia's team and it beat brandon's registeel. So tell me forum (lol) what's your unexpected powerhouse?

Scizor in Platinum (though it wasn't used in-game, rather as a Battle Frontier Pokemon). Its Bullet Punch dealt a crap-ton of damage (thanks to it having Swords Dance and Technician).

Hariyama in Ruby. I didn't start training it until I was on the other side of that Wishmur infested cave. So it got it got a lot of HP EVs and proved to be impossible to take down.

staryu in soul silver. It was about the time to beat Blackthorn's gym leader, but I lacked a single ice or dragon attack. I picked up my starmie, level 23, and taught it blizzard, and told it to kick ass, which is what it did, gaining many levels along the way, now its at level 38 and I am about to beat the elite 4. It gained alot of levels fast, and surf is extremely pwerful. If only I had a waterstone, it would be unbeatable.

My Blastoise in SoulSilver has won me several Wi-Fi battles almost singlehandedly by just tanking the shit out of the opponents entire team. In a similar vein, my Venusaur strikes fear into my friend's hearts, to the point were I do so much as summon him and they go "Fuck"

My Houndoom, though one of my favorites, became a really wicked sweeper in my Pearl.

Machamp in Diamond. I didn't know much about Pokemon and stats. I only caught it as a Machop to help with Roark because I knew Rock was weak to Fighting. I kept it on my team and it evolved and was almost invincible. Then I got my cousin to come over with his DS so I could trade Machoke and trade him back to me to evolve it.

I forgot my toxicroak in platinum. That thing and my honchkrow can beat lucian's entire team. Toxicroak also single-handedly beat all of darach's team easily. My honchkrow is also a really good pokemon. It and my spiritomb beat the arcade star's team. On FR my primape was also a powerful pokemon. I started with charmander so I caught a mankey on the route to indigo plateu so I could beat brock. It ended up beating most of loreli's team and 1/2 of bruno's team. It's also helped me a lot in trainer tower.

Your poison/fighting type managed to beat all of Lucian's team? Dude, that's badass.

It knew sucker punch which I used a PP up on. I also gave it a focus band (or sash? I can't remember.) So it wouldn't die in one hit.

My Furret in Heartgold. It won many important battles and is a foe to fear with it's kings rock and headbutt. It was also important in the battle against Lance as it stalled for time against his most powerful Dragonite. In the end though, it got beaten, but it allowed me to revive my Feraligatr and let it deal the final blow with ice fang.

Mawile. It made for a very short Norman battle on Ruby. It defeated both of Norman's Slakings, without needing to be healed.

My Persian in....well...every game since Gen II. It's attacks? Toxic, Thunderbolt, Hypnosis, Dream Eater.

Leafeon. ._. It's cute and fluffy! I did not expect to OHKO a Tyranitar!

My Quagsire in SS was a complete tank. Especially considering I mainly used him as an HM slave, yet he beat about half of the E4 by himself.
