Judging by one of the posts below that article, it seems like the cart that has both Mother 1 and 2 won't be released in the US. Is that so? Because if it is, I may just import it to see what all the hubbub is about.

Mother 2 is just Earthbound, which was released here. Don't know anything about Mother 1 except that it's an NES game.

Mother 1 is decent, but the difficulty curve is outrageous. Most RPGs throw easy foes at you until you level up a bit. In Mother 1, you can actually be killed by the random enemies outside your house right at the beginning of the game. It doesn't really get that much easier from then on, either.

So it's like a Dragon Quest game, in that you have to level up before you enter the first dungeon, right?
