The new 3D environment and battle field provides them to give some moves some really cool animations. So far we've seen some moves that appear to be Solarbeam, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, possibly Night Slash and Confusion, and a move used by Froakie that I couldn't identify. How do you see some of your old favorites looking?

The move used by Froakie looked more like a water move than ice beam to me.

EDIT: I'm excited to see what Draco Meteor will look like.

I thought the moves Froakie used were Water Gun (before seeing the still of the snowflakes in it), then Ice Beam. The other move it used I was certain looked like Fury Swipes to me.
The seemingly Psychic-type move that Fennekin used, where the spiraling purple shapes all seemed to stream slowly and then gather at the opponent... isn't there an attack very similar to that in appearance already?

I'm really curious to see how moves like Leaf Blade will look, considering given that their anime incarnations end up with green extensions to arms/tails - do you think they'll go that far with the animations? I'm also interested to see if Lovely Kiss will be an actual physical smooch or if it will be played more like in Stadium. I'm also looking forward to seeing how stat-changing moves like Agility and Bulk Up are animated and, to a greater degree, if moves like Trick Room create a long-lasting visible change in the 3D environment of the battle. I'm also presuming that when a move like Rain Dance is used, it will be raining consistently until the number of turns is up, rather than just being visible in-between turns.

I've just seen the snowflakes, so now I'm not sure, but it looks like it makes a splash off of Pansear, and there's little water droplets. Plus being water would make sense since the other two starters are using STAB moves.

Agreed. It looked more like Water Gun over Ice Beam. It seemed too bubbly to be an Ice-type attack. As for the other move Froakie used, it could be something like Mach Punch or Quick Attack (along those lines).

Likewise, I would LOVE to see moves like Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor, Stone Edge, and the Elemental Punches done in this new 3D style.

Mach Punch would make sense if it turns out to be water/fighting like some people are predicting.

Maybe that move was a new move? Could be something like Scald, but instead of maybe causing a burn, it can freeze the opponent?

Has anyone come to a convincing conclusion of what Froakie's second move is yet? Personally, the animation looks like it could be fury swipes, but I have a friend who think it could be mach punch (I think that's more to do with the fact he wants it to be Water/Fighting).

Acrobatics was it's second move. Why else would it be flipping around hitting patrat.

I think it definitely has to be a multiple-strike move. The only ones, looking at a list of them on Bulbapedia, that I personally think fit the animation are - Comet Punch, Fury Attack or Fury Swipes.
Comet Punch would just be awesome and would fit in with the Water//Fighting theory too, potentially.
I think Fury Attack is least likely of those three, given that that move tends to be more beaks and horns, but you never know.
Fury Swipes I think is most likely because, re-watching the trailer for like the kajillionth time, there definitely appears to be some kind of black swiping marks.

In saying that, as I was steadily pause-play pause-playing the trailer to really study the move (I know, I'm terribly sad), the sound effect at the end of the move (sounds like the normal thud/crunch noise we usually get) only sounds the once. Is it possible that it isn't a multistrike move? Or could it be that those moves no longer have a break and the sound between each instance of the attack?

I can't believe that, of all the things I could be obsessing and Pokégasming about, it is this one freaking move that is getting me talking the most... well played, Froakie...

I'm confused to whether they are showing moves that make contact more clearly and directly or not. The slashing move Chespin uses just follows the usual "make stuff appear on the rival" instead of an actual animation, although which one is it is ambiguous so it could not necessarialy be a contact move.

On the other hand, Froakie IS clearly shown using a contact move on the opponent.

Because plenty of mechanics deppend on contact, I'd like if they showed this a little more clearly. Specially on odd cases such as Petal Dance.

Given that they still have 9 months to finish everything, it's possible that that's just an early version of Night Slash or whatever's animation, and the final will show actual contact.

The move Froakie use could've also been Close Combat. After all, that move gets in your face and smacks you around a lot, so it's possible. It would tie in further to a possible Water/Fighting-type, but let's not go there. But I think it was either Acrobatics or Close Combat. Either would work, really.

I don't think it can be Fury Swipes since Froakie being a frog wouldn't have any claws.

Actually, it still could be as (even though I agree it's a long shot) there are some species of frogs that have claws on their hind feet for tearing apart food. Plus, certain Pokémon that can learn Fury Swipes - such as Diglett line, Mankey line, Sentret line, Aipom line, Chimchar line, Cyndaquil line and Buizel line - don't have claws that are obvious when looking at their physical designs (although you would expect it of some of them, obviously). However, given that it is a frog and clawed frogs aren't exactly common, that would probably be an obvious design trait... unless it will be in a future evolution?

In all fairness though, I'm kinda grasping at straws XD you are probably right :3

I love how much two second moment in the trailer can get us all in deep thought and really wracking our brains! @Laterna and @CynthiaLover, I think you're ideas are both great and to be honest I could see it being any of the ideas you mentioned.
