With every new generation old Pokemon get new abilities they could not have before and moves as well. What old Pokemon would you like to see get a boost with an old ability or moves it could not get?

I would love Umbreon to get Poison Heal or immunity as an ability since it has been said many times it can produce its own poison. Also I feel it should get Revenge on its moveset so it can have something to hurt steel types with...

This thread is for enhancing old pokemon with currently existing moves/abilities (such as Flareon with Flare Blitz, Quiver Dance Lumineon, etc), so please don't suggest new moves or abilities in this thread - you should do that here instead: http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/f693/new-moves-abilities-144870/

Re: Enhanced Old Pokemon!

...isn't there already a thread for this?
Ah, well. I, along with many others, say that Flareon has to learn Flare Blitz.

Re: Enhanced Old Pokemon!

- Lots of Flying Pokémon would benefit with a Special move, something stronger than Air Slash and more accurate (and obtainable) than Hurricane. Something like, say, 90 or 95 BP and 100% accuracy.

- Gyarados can learn Thunder(bolt), why on earth it can't learn Wild Charge? That would be a way better suit for it, being physical.

- Some coverage move for Lilligant, it can't just rely on Grass, Normal and a lucky Hidden Power.

- And of course, a stronger Physical Fire-move for Flareon. Not just Flare Blitz; something with 80 or 90 BP would be OK

Renamed the thread. So use this thread for suggesting already existing moves/abilities for Pokemon (Flare Blitz Flareon, Quiver Dance Lumineon, Magic Guard Gardevoir, etc).

But if you want to suggest and create brand new moves/abilities then do so here instead. Just clearing up some confusion. Have fun!

I want Black Kyurem to get either Ice Punch or an entirely new move as a reliable and strong Physical Ice-type move, cause the only one it currently has is Freeze Shock which takes one turn to charge and has 90% in accuracy. In the mean time, White Kyurem is stealing all the glory with its amazing 100% accuracy, 95 power and 10%-chance-of-freezing-its-target Special Ice Beam STAB.

Lumineon should have Quiver Dance. Original name is Butterfly Dance, and Finneon/Lumineon are partially based on butterfly fish given the shape of their tails, and Finneon's even called the "Beautifly of the Sea".

Octillery should get Hydro Pump, no, it still doesn't have it.

I'd love for the many Bug/Flying type Pokemon, as well as other Fling types that don't have it, to get Fly. If a tiny little pidgey can learn fly, so can Pokemon like Butterfree and maybe Emolga.

And of course, Flareon needs to be improved, especially with the addition of Flare Blitz.

I'd also like to see Serperior get access to at least one Rock type or Ground type move, but it's probably unlikely.

And there are probably plenty more that I'd like to say, but I can't really think of them all :p

I'm skeptical that secondary hidden abilities will be given to older Pokemon, but it's a possibility. Though I think it's more likely that they'll go the DP route and give new abilities to Pokemon that only have one regular ability.

Octillery should get Hydro Pump, no, it still doesn't have it.
Actually as of BW2, it does.

I'd like to see Wobbuffet get one or two new moves to keep it relevant, something like Recover or Disable just to shake things up.

Typhlosion would like a strong special Electric, Rock or Grass type move, but none of the existing ones really fit particularly well. Maybe a new one will fill the void. Morning Sun would be a nice addition though, as it has good synergy with Eruption and Solarbeam.

I think Samurott would really benefit from Spikes and Agility. The former would work well with his combination of disruptive moves, offensive presence and bulk. The latter would let him function just like Empoleon as a special attacker, either with a Petaya berry or straight up attacking.

I recently came to think of it, but I think the reason why a lot of flying and Flying-type Pokemon can't learn Fly is because Fly is first and foremost an attack, where the Pokemon launches itself at its target. The HM use of it is only secondary, and when you think of it, that doesn't make any sense at all. I mean, this means that knowing an attack = you can fly. Ridiculous! Winged/floating etc Pokemon can naturally fly anyway. They don't have to use a move to do that.

My god, they need to get rid of HMs.

I would like to see a Grass-type Rapid Spin user and more Fire-type Rapid Spin users, since they have their benefits. Grass-type would help immensely with a monotype since that's something it lacks, while a Fire-type spinner would be handy against those Steel-type hazard users. While there is Torkoal, its weakness to Rock is a shame.

In terms of abilities, I would like to see more users with Sand Rush. Cacturne seems like a nice receiver, since its movepool would benefit from the extra Speed (mainly Spikes and Destiny Bond). Maractus could be another user, considering how it is based on a cactus too. Maractus also has some moves that would benefit from increased Speed, except now it doesn't have to worry about boosted Fire attacks. Another Pokemon that would be nice with Sand Rush is Krookodile.

Another ability I would like to see more of is Illusion. I felt that an ability like this would make Zoroark even difficult to guess, since having two Illusion users is already enough to keep the opponent guessing. Maybe if there are three of them, then the fun starts.

Thanks for reading.

Aerodactyl should get Brave Bird or Head Smash to make use of that useless ability Rock Head.

Flareon needs to have a better physical fire move. I'm sure its already mentioned but I didn't read. :p

i'd like the elemental punches to be tms again - getting them through a move tutor wasn't *awful*, but with tms now reusable i'd rather have that.

perhaps have the elemental fangs as tms too, and allow more pokemon to learn both sets.

I'd also throw Flare Blitz into the mix to get past Steel types. Sometimes Fire Fang just isn't enough.

Just thinking that giving it FB may be a bit overkill, not so much as that time some loony said Garchomp needed more moves, but still.

I want Kingler to be able to learn Waterfall. It has a great Attack stat but at the moment the only physical Water type moves it has access to are Dive (takes two turns to use) and Crabhammer, which it learns at level 56!

I'm pretty sure that a Butterfree could Fly into the air and launch itself at the target.

Agreed. I don't understand why it can't learn Waterfall.

Basically every pokemon can produce their toxin, since every pokemon can learn Toxic, lmao. That fact wouldn't justify it for Umbreon. On the other hand, I don't exactly see how Gliscor can use that either though.

I wish that some dumb redundancies with pokemon not being able to learn moves that they obviously should to be fixed - like Garchomp not being able to use Razor wind.

^ Personally, I think it's kind of stupid that almost every mon can learn Toxic. :/
