Movie 11 ending song announced: ''ONE'' to be sung by Crystal Kay

The ending theme song for the 11th Pokémon movie, Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin, will be ONE by Crystal Kay, according to the artist's Web site. The 22-year-old R&B and pop singer, songwriter and model is an American citizen living in Japan and is fluent in both English and Japanese. A new film trailer featuring the movie version of the song will debut Saturday.

This is awesome, I love Crystal Kay! I wonder if it is going to be in English, or the Japanese mix... not that it'll really matter for the US release :|

I hope it'll be a mix so there's a greater chance that they won't change it for the dub.

X3 Sweet Crystal Kay! Love her!

Can't wait! Hm..maybe a mix of Japanese and English or English? Who knows..

It's silly that you're still holding out hope for an ending theme to be kept intact in a Pokemon movie :p

Anyway...my first experience with Crystal Kay was when I first saw the m-flo video "Reewind!" about a year ago. She's alright and a refreshing change of pace from other Japanese groups, but it's really hard to imagine her doing a song for a Pocket Monsters movie.

Sowelu, who ended up doing the ending theme to the Manaphy movie, also did a song with m-flo...

inb4 people start whining about movie 10's ending theme

Interesting. Has the Japanese version ever used hip-hop before?

The very beginning of toi et moi (Movie 2) was kind of hip hop-ish.

Crystal Kay is more R&B anyway.

Namie Amuro too, but I guess that was after she did the pokemon theme. I don't know, Crystal Kay isn't really a surprising choice to be honest. Lately she's been doing a lot of ballads, it isn't too far a jump from most Japanese Pokemon ending songs. That said, who knows what they'll really make it sound like.

I think it'd be awesome if it was all in English and brought over to the US. I wonder if that would help her to break out in the USA. I am hoping she does soon... and stay more true to her style unlike Utada. (Truthfully, I hope Utada tries to make a comeback in the US, it just seemed more like most Americans didn't see the True Utada, just the "Japanesey" one...)

It won't be, though.

People should realize after the Lucario and Darkrai movies that just because a song is performed by a group who's popular in the U.S. or is already in English doesn't mean the dubbers are going to keep it intact.

I'm still holding out hope that this will be a cover of U2's One (even though the odds are one in a zillion that U2 would actually allow One, of all songs, to be used in a Pokemon movie...)

Do artists consider doing a theme for pokemon belittling/sell out? I thought they'd think it'd be good advertising. Though, I have no clue what Pokemon JPN's spending budget is... I'm sure it's a lot more than P.USA..

Also, not that I believe that that is a possibility, "One" is a pretty common song title name.

^The rights to U2's "One" would cost a hell of a lot more than, say, "Drowning Man", especially given it's fame and popularity even now, sixteen years after it's original release. We're definitely talking more expensive than Sarah Brightman's cover of "I Will Be With You (The Lost Ones)".

Meh, I'm still hoping (and yes, I know that it's a common song title, :p. But I can dream).
