In continuation of the old Comic Movie Releases thread (which will be kept as a regular, non-stickied thread for reference), the new Movie Releases thread will serve to announce and discuss upcoming and newly released movies.

To keep things organized, please respect the following guidelines:

  • Only movies are to be discussed here.
Live-action or animated, short or full length, anything goes. If you want to discuss any other medium of entertainment, please make a new thread for it. This includes TV shows.

  • Keep discussions to newly released or upcoming movies.
In case you wish to discuss about an older movie, make a new thread for it in this section.

  • If you are going to post about the ending or plot twist of a movie, please hide it with spoiler tags so you don't end up ruining the surprise for fellow users.
To spoiler a post, simply highlight the content that you have to hide and press the balloon with a "?" on the message's toolbar. Alternatively, use the following code:
    Code:
    [noparse][SPOILER]Your spoilers[/SPOILER][/noparse]

  • Do not badmouth other peoples' opinions and reviews.
Everyone has a right to give their point of view on a movie. You are free to criticize it however, as long as you are constructive and polite.

Have fun and happy posting!

One of the latest movies I watched was The Dark Knight Returns Part 1. It's on my favorite Batman animated movies list :b
It had a pretty slow start, but I liked the pacing. I enjoyed seeing an old Batman trying to get back into crime fighting and how he handles what elderly people go through.

One of my favorite scenes was when
Batman chased down these thugs into and old building. During his stealth tactics, he made a lot of noise and the thugs were freaking out lol
Batman's fight with the
leader of the mutants was an epic fight B]

Seeing Carrie Kelley (the female Robin) in an animation was a bit of a surprise. I hope they have Damian in an animated movie, that would be epic.

I'm looking forward to Part 2 so I can see
and old Joker getting back to crime fighting.

The armor on the right looks bad ass 8D

Looking forward to this one. Especially seeing how the villain is going to be
the Mandarin, who is an awesome villain. (he's played by Ben Kingsley)

The movie will be coming out on the 3rd of May next year in theaters \o/
I hope it will be better than the 2nd one because the last movie's villain, Whiplash, wasn't really a big time threatening dude imo. And this movie's villain's power has to do with sorcery & magic and I thought he was pretty good and handled well in The Invincible Iron Man (2007) animated movie; he'd probably be more epic in a live action film :BC

The armor on the right looks like Captain America fused with Iron Man lol.

But I'm looking forward to Iron Man 3 too, cause I'm a huge Iron Man fangirl. ^^

^That's pretty much what it's supposed to be. If I remember, Tony Stark actually made a suit like that as an homage to Cap.

Of course, a similar suit was later worn by Norman Osbourne (aka the Green Goblin), but seeing as Sony still owns Spider-Man... I think it's Rhodie.

Ah, I see.

But wait, I thought Disney owned Spiderman because they bought Marvel.

Sony still has the rights to producing Spider-Man films. That's why the reboot was still a Sony film.

Ohhh, I see now. That makes sense.

Super excited for Side Effects next week - anyone else?

Thor: The Dark World trailer was released a few days ago!!! I am so looking forward to this movie.

So, Kevin Feige has pretty much confirmed that the next Marvel movie following Ant-Man is going to be...Doctor Strange! I knew he was confirmed to being in Phase Three already, but it's pretty much confirmed now that this will be as his own film.

Joss Whedon confirming that a "brother-sister" duo will be in Avengers 2 (with many speculating about them being Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver - with Feige saying that both Marvel and Fox can use the characters) has helped spur my interest in Avengers 2...but Dr. Strange hype one-ups it for me xD

This isn't really recent news, but I learned yesterday that a new Godzilla movie is in the works. Although I'm not necessarily a die-hard fan of Godzilla, I do like the allegorical anti-nuke symbolism it had in the original movie (I've heard that it's a "she", but I dunno how many people buy into that), and I like the whole assortment of kaijus the series has built up over the years and the mythos surrounding them, so I'm happy to hear from the director that he intends to turn Godzilla "relevant" again by attaching it to a different modern issue that he hasn't specified. The prospect of a modern, updated, serious, narrative Godzilla movie is music to my ears, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up because that's really easy to screw up, something the director has stated that he realizes.

I saw Iron Man 3 for my birthday and I absolutely LOVED it! It was as good as the first one, and better than the second! Would definitely watch again. ^^

Also, are there any Night at the Museum fans around here? If so, you'll be pleased to know that it's going to become a trilogy! Night at the Museum 3 is set to be in theaters Christmas 2014. :D I so can't wait, I loved the first two movies! And Ben Stiller is awesome. ^^

aaa Night at the Museum 3?! I'm excited already!

I saw The Great Gatsby yesterday; simply stunning. Has anyone else seen it?

Yep, it was posted on Facebook! This'll be a great Christmas present next year. ^^

As for The Great Gatsby, I never liked the book, so I'm hardly interested in any movies about it...

Thing is, from what I've heard, the movie goes into better detail and is far less confusing than the book. That is, if your reservations about seeing the movie stem from the confusing, hardly distinguishable plot points of the book. The movie is just really enjoyable regardless of what you might think of the book!

Eh, I'm still not really interested. I actually did see a Great Gatsby movie in school, now that I think about it and I still didn't like it. It bored me.
