I don't know why or how, but I tried to play various MP3s and they won't open! Even when I go right click->play, they don't open! Real Media format works, though.

The only thing I did differently between now and the last time I played them was that I loaded the new version of MSN Messenger. Could that be to blame?

What program are using to play MP3s? Try to reinstall it, if possible.

I've had that happen to me, but the issue was fixed when I restarted.

The problem always somehow gets solved after I post. I guess I can fix peoples' computers remotely, or something. (psychic?) :p

Oh, and I've had odd video playback problems once, when I installed an unstable XviD decoder (I'm not even sure if that's the cause). It caused videos to play back at about 1 frame per second, depending on the computer's mood. Sometimes, they'd work fine. Other times, it would have trouble, and the problem would remain until I logged into anoter account, logged out, and came back to my initial account. Restarting wouldn't solve the problem. Since XP was showing signs of aging already, I've simply wiped the drive and reinstalled the OS. I do this evey couple months to make sure that my system runs optimally. e_e'
