Im sorry to say folks, but the hinge on my ds lite has snapped, so im going to be down to just the DSi for a while.
i have the box and the reciept for it, but i bought it in 2006 so im guessing they are going to charge me to fix it

has this happened to anyone else before? how did nintendo handle it? good? bad?

any comments and help most welcome :)

You mean like the top screen section ofthe Ds came off of the other part? Like it broke in half? Mine did, but I never bothered to have it fixed. It doesn't turn on, but the orange light lights up when I put it on a charger.

I got the same problem. At the part on the right when you open it, right near the part where it separates, a bunch of plastic chipped off and it falls closed by itself. It also tends to fall halfway off the hinge. I got it in December, and I dunno either.

Or is it both sides for you? I only have one side messed up, otherwise it would be in half.

its the bit with the light lines on it has just come completely away, you can see the R button beneath it. luckily the top screen is still connected, and it works fine, its just a case issue.

ive applyed to nintendo to get it fixed, ive had my psp broken for about a year and a bit and not missed it, but my DS lite i cant live without >.<

Huh? Its size isn't that big of a problem. I bought a regular DS back then and I haven't even considered to buy Lite or DSi.

Im honestly not meaning to be rude, but even with huge pockets i couldnt fit everything i need in alongside an old ds.

With just my wallet, phone, keys, car keys, inhaler, and meds, the smaller lite is already cramped

Holy crap, that sucks, man! D;

I have to admit, I was a late adopter of the DS... so I never owned an original DS (or "DS Phat") and I hardly gave owning one a passing thought until I found out that there was a Pokémon DS Lite XD all I really play on it is Pokémon and such spin-offs, other than those my DS is basically a GBA with a second screen (I only owned an original GBA so backlights and rechargable batteries are still a novelty to me)

My original DS is still going strong.

Also isn't this in the wrong section?

Also, I doubt Nintendo will fix it, they're not as nice as Microsoft.

this could be the wrong section for it if i ever played anything other than pokemon on it :ksmile:

i think nintendo will fix it, but they will also charge me money for it. TBH its worth it, so im going to try to do it (if the label they are supposed to send me turns up) <crosses fingers>

i can still play pokemon on my DSi, but all my friend codes will have changed :(
