I'm new to the competitive battling scene, so I've been experimenting with a few different teams, and I've found one that works fairly well.

1.Starmie
Timid
Natural Cure(duh)
252 SpA / 252 Spe
Life Orb
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Rapid Spin

This Starmie has worked extremely well as an Anti-lead for me. It can 2HKO most common leads in OU and then Spin away the rocks. For the leads it cant handle I switch out to the next one.

2. Metagross
Adamant
252 HP / 240 Atk / 16 Spe
Lum Berry
-Bullet Punch
-Earthquake
-Meteor Mash
-Stealth Rocks

The main role this Metagross plays is to come in on a hit aimed at Starmie, absorb it and then proceed to OHKO the opponents lead and set up rocks. He's also my priority attacker for ending a low health sweep, and his Lum berry lets him absorb a little status without harm.
The speed EV's are there just so he can take out other Metagross.

3.Togekiss
Modest
Serene Grace
252 HP / 152 SpA / 104 Spe
Leftovers
-Nasty Plot
-Roost
-Air Slash
-Aura Sphere

Just your standard Nasty Plot Sweeper. His job is to lure in Blissey, set up on her and take her out.

4.Flygon
Jolly
252 HP / 252 Spe
Leftovers
-Toxic
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Roost

Not your usual Flygon. He serves two purposes on this team, Toxic stalling and luring out Scizor to OHKO it.
I switch him in on a ground or electric move, toxic on the switch, and if a Steel type comes in I fire blast it.

5.Electivire
Adamant
252 Atk / 252 Spe
Expert Belt
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch
-Thunder Punch
-Cross Chop/Low Kick

I introduced this guy after he absolutely destroyed my team a couple times. I have three electric weaknesses on this team, so there's plenty of opportunity to draw a Tbolt or two.
Once he gets his boost, his amazing Type coverage makes him very hard to stop.

6.Empoleon
Modest
252 SpA / 252 Speed
(HP IV of 30)
Petaya Berry
-Agility
-Substitute
-Surf
-Ice Beam

This is my sweeper. He isn't difficult to set up, and once he is the only thing that can stop him is Blissey. For that reason I always wait until late game if possible to bring him in.

While play testing I've seen every member of this team do some serious damage to enemy teams, depending on their weakness.
That being said, the centerpiece is my SubPetaya Empoleon. I've been up against 5 healthy pokemon with this guy as my last, and he still pulled out a W with ease.

I'm looking for an opening to put a SubSwarm Scizor in, and I'm leaning towards outing Flygon for this reason, thoughts?

Sub Petaya Empoleon is a monster :P

However I would suggest Grass Knot over Ice Beam. In the time I've used him it's worked better because you can take out Vaporeon in one to two hits. Everything else(instead of Blissey) is a OHKO after the +1, and Torrent STAB Surf.

Also you say Togekiss is your Blissy killer but...what happens if she carries Toxic because I don't see that Togekiss living through toxic and a few Seismic Tosses.

Everything else looks fine.

I used to use Ice beam non boosted as a check for Salamence, but I guess I don't really need it anymore.

As far as Togekiss vs. Bliss w/ Toxic goes, it's always close, but if I can bring him in at full health and I roost at the right times then he usually comes out on top (thanks to flinching). I'd like a more reliable way to deal with her, but I really need that thing down fast for me to win.

Hmm, I see a massively-EQ weak team. E-vire to gengar, and togekiss to salamence, and that'll perfect this team.

hmmm...
I didn't know that Mence isn't uber here. I'm not sure he would lure Blissey in though, and I feel like that's more important on this team than being an absolute monster.

I do have three weaknesses to EQ, but I also have two immunities. I'll put Gengar in as an alternate.

There's no real need to lure in blissey though. W/ gross, flygon, and mence, your team is blissey-proof even if 2 die.

Ok, I'll test out that variation.
I'm a little bit reluctant just because I feel like adding mence would take the focus away from the Empoleon sweep, and I like that part. I've heard it compared to spamming specs Draco Meteor every turn without the SpA drop.

Well, taking focus off emp could prove advantageous, seeing as not many people are prepared for it, especially as a lgs....

Depending on where you want to use this team, I wouldn't put Salamence onto the team.. whilst it can be used in the bulba Ladder, almost everywhere else will be going with Salamence as Uber, so you will have to keep making alterations depending on where you are battling.

Love the Sub-Petaya Empoleon, that thing is a beast.. but like you say, Blissey needs to be out of the way first. Going with what Insomniac says, it could be effective using Metagross as a scout to Blissey, so switching in on the status move when Blissey comes out. If it's Toxic, there'll be no effect, and if it's T-wave, Metagross has still got priority with Bullet Punch, and from there use Blissey's T-wave as set up for Electivire.

Hopefully I've made myself clear there :L.
