My first Sprites

So I decided to make one of those fan games based on leafgreen/firered and I messed around with some sprites to get used to working with them. They're just splices and recolors for the most part but they're place holders for characters that I'm working on. Criticism and suggestions are welcome (actually the point of the thread).

They are good, just one suggestion- go to something like www.iaza.com and transparentize those. It make them more eye-pleasing (in my opinion at least)

I'm looking forward to seeing more xD

 

[Pidgeot]

The first one's good, but you can easily see where the main sprite originated from (Blue's sprite). The second sprite looks odd, but I can't put my finger on why. The third one's hair looks a bit out of place. The fourth one? Well, the head points the way the feet do, but the torso points the other way. So it looks a bit weird.

The second one's left arm is messed up since I had to flip it and rotate it upside down. The third one's hair is just a recolored version of Lt.Surge's. The fourth one is a bit confusing, I don't really like it anyway.
