My Golbat nearly didn't evolve!

I have a mildly humorous story about my Golbat I caught in Victory road that I decided to evolve. I started leveling up estimating it would be a Crobat by about lv 70. I trained hard constantly challenging trainers with good exp. yield and the levels rose. Lv 70 came and gone. I was annoyed Golbat hadn't evolved yet. Lv 80. Still no evolution. I began to wonder if there were any other requirements even though I knew the only requirement was happiness. Level 90 eventually came. By this point I was absolutely furious, why wouldn't it evolve? Still, I kept leveling the damn thing, mainly because I couldn't be bothered to use other methods. It was starting to get tedious and I was afraid it wouldn't evolve. Until level 99, when I was about to use about 50 diff other methods to raise it's happiness further, it evolved. I almost threw my DS out the window! The funny thing is my current Diamond file is a new one and my highest lv Pokemon is lv 76, until now, I have a lv 100 Crobat. It's amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it .
