Hi all, long time no see.
So I was thinking about the next generation and then I came up with an idea. I don't know how well it would work but it's worth talking about.
Firstly, since the next Gen will be on the Switch, it is a prime candidate for a multi-region game. My idea involves every single region to date.
Every region will have the classical 8 gyms (apart from Unova which has 9), an elite four and a champion. These will probably not be exactly the same as in the original games but I'm not going to go into that. The Alola region's Island Challenges will be replaced with gyms. It's fine if you disagree with this, but Gen 7 is my least favourite generation, I just find the amount of times the NPCs talk to you about rubbish and the Rotom Dex and the Island Challenges quite frustrating and obnoxious. It's also far too easy for me, why the hell are you given 6 revives before even the FIRST Island Challenge? It's just a crappy game imo.
Anyway, moving on, levelling is a problem. You'll reach level 100 by the second or third region. Not to worry, the level limit is being changed. It's going up to a maximum of level 1000. That allows you to go throughout the entire game without running out of level ups, because lets face it, you'll probably never reach level 1000. The only Pokemon in the game that will be level 1000 is Arceus, more on that in a minute.
The first region (the new one) will probably span the first 100 levels. You'll go through the first 8 gyms, the elite four and the champion like normal, but that's where it changes. You will then go through a regional post-game and to get to the next region, you'll have to beat the Pokemon League again. After that you will be allowed to move on to Alola. At that point you will probably be between level 80-100.
Alola will then span the next 80 levels or so, which will leave you at about level 160-185 at the end of it. You'll only have to beat the Pokemon League once from now on to advance to the next region.
Kalos will span about 75 levels, Unova around 70, Sinnoh around 60-65, Hoenn 55-60, Johto 50 and Kanto 40. That will leave you at about level 510-540. That's just the main game though. There will be a pretty large post-game where you can take on all of the gyms and Pokemon Leagues again, which will probably get you 50 or 60 extra levels which will be quite nice. There will also be certain places in most regions that will only be accessible after beating the main game which then guarantees at least 30 more levels.
So after completing the main post-game, you will almost certainly have gained an extra 100 levels or so which will put you at level 600 or so. In the post-game, you'll be able to catch every single legendary in existence. You will only be able to catch very minor legendaries such as Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf, Rotom, Phione and Manaphy. The rest are available in the post game.
One part of this post-game will be battling the regional trainers. Their starter will be random and based on your secret ID (I think it's called that). The legendary they have will be based on what version you have, aside from Red because he doesn't have a legendary.
The first version will follow Pokemon FireRed, HeartGold, Omega Ruby, Diamond, Black, Black 2, X and Ultra Sun. In this version the regional trainers will have: Ho-Oh, Groudon, Dialga, Reshiram, Zekrom, Xerneas and Solgaleo.
The second version will follow Pokemon LeafGreen, SoulSilver, Alpha Sapphire, Pearl, White, White 2, Y and Ultra Moon. In this version the regional trainers will have: Lugia, Kyogre, Palkia, Zekrom, Reshiram, Yvetal and Lunala.
In both cases, Platinum, Emerald, Crystal, Red, Green, Blue, Gold, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Sun and Moon and their story lines are ignored and do not exist.
Unova is an interesting case. It has two trainers for it's region, the 1 trainer and the 2 trainer. In Black 1 the player gets Reshiram, and in 2 the player gets Zekrom in the post-game, hence why both legendaries are mentioned. In the second version it will be vice versa.
Whether the regional trainer is male or female (apart from Red) is completely random and also up to your secret ID.
You will also get to fight the rivals of each region. Obviously you fight Blue in Kanto in his gym, In Johto you'll fight the opposite gender of the regional trainer, in Hoenn you'll fight the opposite gender of the regional trainer and Wally, same but with Barry in Sinnoh, in Unova you'll fight Cheren as a gym leader and Bianca, in Kalos you'll fight Serena, Shauna, Trever and Tierno and in Alola you'll fight Hau, Lillie and Professor Kukui. You'll also fight the rival from your region multiple times throughout the game, including a few times in the post-game.
You will be able to catch the regional trainer's legendary. After you defeat them in battle, the legendary will be impressed with your superior skills and the trainer will notice this and release the legendary. You will then battle the legendary and you can catch it then. The other legendaries for that region will be in other locations.
You can have a rematch with the regional trainer. They will get a new Pokemon and their levels will be higher than the last time.
The final boss though will not be Red. It will be Arceus. To unlock Arceus you will need to obtain every single legendary in the game. After that there will be a very complicated route (probably taking about 30 minutes to navigate it all) to another dimension, where you can then find Arceus after a 10 minute trek through it. Arceus will (as mentioned before) be level 1000, but don't worry, he won't one shot your entire team. He will be programmed to only use one move, Warn, which will have 100 PP and doesn't damage your Pokemon. If it runs out of PP then he'll only use a non-damaging move until that runs out of PP, which is when he will start killing -I mean attacking- your Pokemon. It's recommended that you bring your strongest legendaries along so that you can get him down to red and status him. His catch rate will be 0.5, which will make him extremely hard to catch and you will probably end up having to soft-reset at least once. No balls with catch rate boosts under certain circumstances will work, they will be as good as poke balls. The only balls with an elevated catch rate will be great balls and ultra balls. I wish you luck in catching Arceus though, the only advice I can give is bring at least 200 ultra balls and if Arceus gets to the point where he is attacking you, the best thing to do is to soft reset because every single Pokemon on your team will just get one shot so you'll never be able to throw a poke ball at Arceus.
But yeah, Arceus will have no real use in game once you do catch him. Really he's a trophy for completing the entire game. The reason you have to catch every single legendary (which is impossible during the main game) is so you can't just use him to sweep through the game. Catching him is also optional, if you don't have the patience to spend possibly a few hours trying to catching him then you can just kill him.
Killing Arceus will reward every Pokemon on your team 25 levels. Capturing him will reward 100. Don't worry, you won't have to sit through it all, the Pokemon will all be automatically boosted, and any moves they learn will be offered.
As for the evil team, they will be present throughout the main story and may make a few appearances in the post-game.
Anyway, that's all I've come up with so far. Tell me what you think, I am open to criticism of any form. I know it might not be the best idea, but hey it's worth a shot.
