Forward: Hey, guys! It's me, matt0044! Been a while I posted a fanfic, huh? Well, I'm back for good. I hope...
As you can probably tell from this fanfic's title, I'm now a brony (a casual one, I swear) and I'm going to try my hand at creating a mash-up of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, my new favorite cartoon, and Sailor Moon, the first Anime I ever truly liked, where Twilight Sparkle and her friends try to defeat the ancient evil Nightmare Moon and protect Equestria. With the power of the Elements of Harmony, they can change into the legendary human warriors, the Sailor Soldiers.
The reason for this mash-up is because I thought that though MLP:FiM is a good show, I'd like to see how it'd be if it was about Good Vs. Evil as well as Twilight learning about friendship. Another reason for this is because I saw a lot of untapped potential in Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna. She wasn't really explored enough as a character and I feel like she could've been a better character if she was the main antagonist for the first season. Also, this is a combination of two series that are perceived as shows for girls but have attracted a male audience each. It's a no-brainer!
This story is a retelling of season one of MLP:FiM and follows an episodic format but is mostly linear. In addition, certain episodes are adapted but rewritten to fit in the Monsters of the Day and Nightmare Moon as well as other stuff of mine. Original episodes are written to progress this fic's plot as well as to add more depth to the characters and add more to the story as you will soon see. Other minor characters will have bigger roles in this retelling and some will be slightly altered in background.
But enough talk, time for the prologue of our story. Enjoy.
Note: If Prologues alone are not allowed as first post, I heavily apologize and hope I'm not upsetting any mods.

My Little Sailor Soldiers: Friendship is Magic.
Based on "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" developed by Lauren Faust and "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon" created by Naoko Takeuchi.
Adapted and rewritten by matt0044.
--------
Prologue.
"Once upon a time in the magical world of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all the land, sea and air. To do this, the eldest princess used her unicorn magic to raise the sun at dawn while the younger princess brought out the moon at night. But even as the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects of all different types of ponies, trouble was brewing.
For as the years came and went, the younger sister gradually became more and more resentful of her own position. The ponies relished, played and worked in the day her sister brought forth but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. She never got any thanks, praise or recognition like her sister, despite her work.
One fateful day, the younger sister refused to let the moon down for the sunrise, delaying the day heavily. Her elder sister tried to reason with her but to no avail. The younger sister's state of negativity only intensified. And then, it happened: with her mind, body and soul consumed by her own anger, hatred and bitterness, the young princess changed into a monstrous mare of pure darkness known as Nightmare Moon. She vowed that she'd assume control of Equestria to shroud it in eternal darkness and make everypony suffer to vent her undying rage. Many rose up in attempt to bring her down. All tried and all died.
To prevent her corrupted sister's intentions, the eldest sister, reluctant as she was, brought out the most powerful magic known to any pony: the Elements of Harmony. By entrusting each of them to six individuals, those ponies were able to become powerful human warriors known as the Sailor Soldiers by harnessing each power their Element supplied them with. But though they were strong, they could not defeat or purify Nightmare Moon for she was much more powerful. With no other choice, the eldest princess and the six soldiers together used everything in what little power they had to seal Nightmare Moon in the moon itself. The very thing she controlled became her prison in the end.
The eldest sister then took control for both sun and moon. Since then, peace finally became a mainstay in Equestria for generations."
For a picture book, it was a fairly good read for young student Twilight Sparkle as she laid down on the grass near the park's pond. But there was a slight hint of déjà vu about it for the lavender coated pony.
"Elements of Harmony," she said to herself with a tone of deep curiosity. "Now where have I heard them from before?"
She would soon learn more. Much more than she would expect to.
--------
Afterward: That's it for now. I hope you guys enjoyed it. I know that this prologue is the same as in the original TV show but like I said, this is my retelling of the series. Things will start get different for the next two acts and you can quote me on that.
In the meantime, please give me a constructive review so that I know your honest impressions about this fanfic. Maybe even hear some suggestions for future stories. In any case, fire away!
P.S. Call me Matt.
