i decided to completely rethink my battling team.
i've been looking through smogon and bulbapedia and i've come up with a team that i think will work well

i havent even started this team, this is just the plan..but let me know what you think, and give me suggestions, thanks :)

aerodactyl

focus sash
pressure
jolly
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 spe
taunt
stealth rock
stone edge
earthquake

my starter, taunts to screw up opponents set ups, then sets up stealth rock, and with focus sash, will always be able to at least put in one attack, or even switch to electrivire if i see a thunderbolt coming, only problem here is if i come up against a scizor with bullet punch, who will 2hko me, but if i see him i'll either switch or just use the one turn to set up stealth rock.

gengar

levitate
timid
life orb
4 hp, 252 spA, 252 speed
energy ball
shadow ball
sludge bomb
thunder bolt

pretty self explanatory, special sweeper, i know sludge bomb and energy ball arnt usual for gengar, but i like sludge bomb for guys im not super effective against, and energy balls there instead of focus blast because i hate focus blast's accuracy, and a miss can end up with gengar being defeated instantly because of it's awful defences.

electivire

motor drive
Adamant
Expert belt
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 spe
thunder punch
fire punch
earthquake
cross chop

pshyical sweeper, again, pretty basic set, opted for fire punch over ice punch because i lack fire punch in my team, and can be used for scizor/fortress.

togekiss

serene grace
Leftovers
Calm
252 hp, 4 spA, 252 spD
thunder wave
roost
aura sphere
air slash

special wall, but also very good attacker/flincher. thunder wave, then air slash for flinches. aura sphere for coverage and roost for healing

dusknoir

pressure
Leftovers
Impish
200 hp, 52 att, 252 def,
will-o-wisp
fire punch
ice punch
shadow sneak

pshyical wall, will-o-wisp to lower attack, and fire/ice punches for coverage. shadow sneak because with STAB has a base power of 60, and is generally un expected. concidering changing to wide lense for will-o-wisp accuracy

weavile

pressure
Adamant
focus sash
4 hp, 252 attack, 252 spe
ice shard
pursuit
counter
swords dance

my late-game sweeper, used to finish off pokemon that i have previously harmed. i'd only ever switch this in directly after a faint, because it is appauling at taking hits. pursuit for pokemon who try to run, ice shard for quick stabs, swords dance on the switch, and focus sash/counter when i see a fighting move coming.

please let me know if you see any weaknesses/improvments to my team, i'd be very grateful as i want to get it right before i start working on this team :) thanks!

One thing that hits me real quick is that you've got three Rock weak Pokémon and nothing to resist it.. which also in turn means that you've got three Stealth Rock weak Pokémon.

I'm not sure what I'd replace though... Togekiss has weird typing for being a special wall, being weak to two really common special moves (Ice Beam and Thunderbolt), so maybe that for something that resists Rock?

i see your point actually, much as i love togekiss he may not be the best :/ how about a milotic? i have no idea about a moveset though :/

Milotic might be an interesting choice.

.. Thinking about it some more, there aren't really many special walls that resist Rock, though, due to the lack of special Rock moves.. but Dusknoir doesn't seem very replacable to me for some reason.

I can't do a very thorough rate at the moment but I just thought I'd post what I saw right off the bat. XD

no i really like my dusknoir, i think he serves a really useful part of the team :)

thinking about it though, togekiss could work, because he's faster than most rock types, and so can use aura sphere, plus roost would help me with stealth rock, however that still leaves me with the boltbeam problem :/ i could switch to electivire if i see a thunderbolt coming, but predicting it isnt always the easiest thing :/

haha dont worry, i apprechiate you looking :)

Well, thing is, most Pokemon that use Rock moves aren't of the Rock-type. That's something a lot of people overlook and just think that only Pokemon that match a move's type is the only user of it...

Now I'm not one for damage calcs but I dunno if you could make Togekiss bulky enough to have an Ice Beam/Thunderbolt not 2KO you. It's not the most effective user of Roost since I don't think it's fast enough to make use of the Flying-type loss (and thus, the Ice/Electric weakness disappears).

i guess your right, i dont think i've battled an infernape yet that doesnt have stone edge :/ i could just switch onto dusknoir if i see a stone move coming, he could take it especially if the attack doesnt have STAB.

and togekiss's typing isnt ideal, but im struggling to think of a decent special wall to replace him, i spose blissey would make sense, but i just haaaate that pokemon :/

i see your point actually, much as i love togekiss he may not be the best :/ how about a milotic? i have no idea about a moveset though :/

Milotic- Bold @ Leftovers
148 HP / 252 Def / 108 SA
-Hypnosis
-Recover
-Surf
-Ice Beam

^Smogon's standard Milotic set. It's nice, but it really sucks that Hypnosis took an unfortunate drop in accuracy.

Also, consider this set for a bulky Vaporeon:

Vaporeon- Bold @ Leftovers
252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SA
-Wish / Aqua Ring
-Baton Pass
-Toxic / Ice Beam
-Surf

It has higher HP than Milotic but lower defenses, so I'm not sure which is bulkier. It also hits slightly harder. I prefer Vaporeon over Milotic because I hate Hypnosis's accuracy.

I thought you wanted a Rock resistance? If you want a Rock resistance and a bulky Water-type in one, go for Swampert.

Swampert
Nature: Relaxed
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpA
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Beam
~ Surf / Hydro Pump
~ Stealth Rock / Roar / Protect

You already have Stealth Rock, so I recommend Roar so you can pseudo haze and rack up some residual damage.

Dusknoir NEEDS Pain Split if it isn't running RestTalk but is running a walling set. It's the only other form of recovery that it has.

yeah but i wanted a special wall, im not sure swampert fills this role :/ i like him though, this is going to take some thought and a lot of time looking through smogon :/

mmm you may be right about pain split, i just wanted shadow sneak to surprise attackers,
how does the rest of the team look?

Rest of the team looks fine I suppose. It's pretty Lucario weak though.

If you want a special wall, you can make Swampert Sassy and move the Defense EVs to SpD.

i think i need a rapid spinner, because stealth rock does big damage to my team, and ruins my plan with focus sash counter weavile :/
i also want him to be special defensive so i've been looking and i think either claydol or blastoise

claydol would be useful because as wiil said, it could help with the lucario weakness, and has immuinty to spikes/t spikes

or blastoise, because it has higher stats, and it adds diversity to my team, with claydol i'd have 2 ghosts, dark and pshycic, i could use a few more element type pokes

what do you think?

Claydol has some major advantages as a spinner because of not only its immunity to spikes, but also its resistance to stealth rock. If you would prefer a bulky water for diversity instead however, I would suggest Tentacruel, as was suggested in another thread. Tentacruel offers more special bulk than Blastoise and carries a nifty fighting resistance. Plus, I'm pretty sure its movepool outclasses Blastoise's.

i was thinking about tentacruel actually, and he has toxic spikes, which would be amaizng :)

is there any weaknesses at all you can see?

mm i dunno, i think my dusknoir could cover him, will-o-wisp and fire punch could destroy it

anyway, i've decided on tentacruel, so all i have to do now is train them all up :)

thanks for your help everyone, you can close this now if you like :) in the rules it says to let you know when it's finished :)

Suit yourself, but if Lucario gets a Swords Dance on the Dusknoir switch in, Crunch is going to throttle it.

Thanks for letting me know. Closed.
