Old topic is dead, so I'm just lifting it to here with a big update. New Updates are in Green.
I enjoy putting my own touch on the things I like, so, of course, I have created my own pokemon. Be they type combos not before seen, or just animals/creatures/things just too awesome NOT to be pokemon. Also, my Love of Lovecraft tends to slip into my originals as well.
Lovecraft Inspired:
-Cthon, Cthuloid, Cthulord: Cthon (Dark), Cthuloid (Dark/Dragon), Cthulord (Dark/Dragon) - This cute little squid-headed Dark Type loves spooky, underground (Or underwater) shrines and temples, and tend to give people around them Migraines. It becomes Cthuloid at Lvl. 18, which is a frightful Pokemon that invades Nightmares, instilling fear in it's opponents. The third form, Cthulhord, Evolving at 40, it a terrifying Pokemon to confront. Their favorite food is the Psyche of their trainer.
Obviously based on the Great Octo-Daemon himself, Cthulhu.
- Y'han and N'rgal: Y'han (Dark/Water), N'rgal - Y'han and N'rgal tend to congregate around areas inhabited by Cthon, Cthuloid, and Cthulord. They can be found in deep, sunken cities under lakes or the sea. Y'han Evolves to N'rgal at Lvl. 25.
Based off of Lovecraft's Deep Ones.
- Slubholl: Slubholl (Ground/Poison) - These Foul smelling Poison Worms are found deep in caves or underground areas. They are known to foul up the earth around where they live, making them a pest to most. Their skin is fleshy and saggy, and they constantly ooze poison.
Based on the Mythos' Dholes/Bholes.
- Gnoph, Kehgnoph: Gnoph (Ice), Kehgnoph (Ice) - The small, horned, six-legged polar bear Pokemon Gnoph are a common sight amongst trainers who adore cute Pokemon. Most of these trainers, however, are unfamiliar with their evolved form. Kehgnoph, a massively violent Nar-bear, are highly territorial, and not for trainers unprepared for tough training. They are prone to random rampages, utilizing their powerful horns, jaws, and legs.
Based on the Hyperborian Gnophkeh, giant six-legged Narwhal Bears of the arctic.
Original Type Combos:
- Mattapilla, Psycoon, and Hivemind: Mattapilla (Bug/Psychic), Psycoon (Bug/Psychic), Hivemind (Bug/Psychic) - All three forms of this Pokemon are mentall linked to each other of it's species and family. Mattapilla have an incredibly hard exoskeleton around their massive brains, but the rest of them is quite frail in comparison. At Lvl. 11 it evolves into the much sturdier Psychoon, who's exposed Brain Lobes allow it to launch a powerful Confusion attack. At Lvl. 16, the Psycoon Evolves into the Hivemind, which have amazing Sp. Atk, but are rather lacking in the other stats besides Spd.
- Mongolurm: Mongolurm (Ground/Electric) - This highly elusive Pokemon lives in Dry, arid locations, and rarely come to the surface. They are believed to mostly be a myth, but not near Legendary standards. It does not Evolve.
Based off of the Mogolian Death Worm.
- Muskum: Muskum (Dark/Fighting) - Another rarity, this "Skunk Ape" Pokemon hides deep in Forests far away from humans. They are most likely to come out at night, and are highly protective of their territory. It does not evolve into or from anything.
Based on the Bigfoot "Skunk Ape" Legend of Florida.
- Goltotem: Goltotem (Rock/Fighting) - Forget a Pokedex style description, this thing looks like a 1950's Robot/Bender with a flat head. I have no apologies for this.
Anyways, these Pokemon can be found in Temple-like structures, usually remaining motionless unless disturbed. They are known to leap at their opponent spinning their individual rings, causing massive damage with its stone limbs.
Based on Totem Poles/Golems/1950's Robots/Bender From Futurama.
- Glowurm, Mothstry, and Mogreth: All three on same picture (Glowurm Bug, other two Dark/Bug) - Glowurm are cute, but devious hunters. They create brilliant light shows with long strands of poisonous mucus hanging from cave ceilings, luring in Moth Pokemon. The second stage, Mothstry, is a powerful flyer, but slow and dopey on land. Their glowing eyes terrify those who witness them at night, the only time they can be seen in the wild. They evolve from Glowurm at level 12. The third form, Mogreth can only be obtained when a Mothstry levels at night holding a Tainted Sigil. They cause immeasurable levels of dread in those around them. They are thought to foreshadow great disasters.
Based off of Cave Glow Worms, And the Moth Man.
Random:
- Splintoros: Splintoros (Grass/Fighting) - A strange, almost alien Pokemon that lives in deep forests. It is good with rapid attacks in succession (Fury Attack, Rock Blast, Etc.), as well as making great use of it's vines.
Based on a Splinter. Seriously.
- Galatos and Galatis: Galatos (Normal), Galatis (Normal) - There's no questioning these Pokemon are from space, as there's nothing earthly about them. Galatos only come out at night, roaming the forests looking for things that glow, which is why they are usually found in the territory of Illumise and Volbeat. Galatos evolves to Galatis when exposed to a Moon Stone. Galatis sway slowly through the forsts at night, spreading a glittering dust that confuses those around them. They are rarely seen in the wild, if ever.
Based off of the Flatwoods Monster, a famous alien sighting in the US.
Obscure Real-World Items/Phenomenon
- Liquivolt and Ferrovolt: Liquivolt (Steel/Electric), Ferrovolt (Steel/Electric) - A man made family of Pokemon, Liquivolt seem to be a metallic liquid with a magnetic core, causing spikes to sprout over their shiny bodies. They are rather slow, but pack one heck of an Electric charge. Their evolved form, Ferrovolt, evolving at level 32, have surrounded their magnet core with their fluid bodies, and now float freely through the air, making them much quicker than their first form. They utilize many spike firing moves, as well and powerful electrical blasts. These two are mostly found in abandoned labs and power plants.
These are both based on Ferrofluids.
I'll post some more, because I have a lot drawn up already, I'm just posting them a few at a time. Enjoy, and I await Criticism.
