OK. I have stood by long enough, after reading, watching, and playing Pokemon, I have decided to trying and create a pokemon game of complete revolutionary inspiration. Using inspiration from Resident Evil and Final Fantasy, I have decided to create a style of Pokemon games that is both realistic AND directed towards a more mature audience.

I wanted something completely diluted from the typical Pokemon Games, but I needed a source of reference that will inspire curiosity from the modern game lovers: So I decided to use our good friend from Interpol, Looker.

The story will start from a Looker's more early days, before he became the hotshot undercover agent that he is.

The first thing I had to think up was the Wild Encounter Ratio [WER] situation. I wanted to erase the whole tall grass scenario, as wild Pokemon aren't ONLY going to attack while to enter thick grass. But I couldn't just leave it to were a wild encounter occurs common through every step you make. Rather, a ratio was made in my head, giving a 60-70% WER at full health. I say full health, because you don't wanna be barraged by wild encounter after encounter with your Pokemon running low on HP with every fight.

So say you have just one Pokemon, a Squirtle we'll say. Your Squirtle takes damage before finishing off the Pokemon, leaving it at 90% its total health. The WER becomes 54-63% (90% of the normal encounter ratio [NER]). The ratio drops by the average percentage of health in your party. So let's say you caught a Rattata and gave it a potion. Your Squirtle still has 90% of its total Health, while your Rattata has 100%. This makes your Average Health Percentage [AHP] 95%, rather than the original 90% WER. This then changes the NER down from 60-70% to 57-66.5%.

Another factor I thought could be needed was something I thought of while reminiscing about an old Computer Game I loved to play, Amazon Trail. In it, you had the option of stopping and collecting nuts and fruits, going fishing, or taking pictures of wild birds, bugs, animals, and plants. Now, in the games, we have 2 out of 3, but why no 3rd option? with the Wii and even the Playstations, we now have those motion censored hand sticks, letting people sword fight with ease. Why not activate a photo pp to point and shoot, capturing Pokemon on camera, eliminating the need for Wild Encounters all the time. As a quick photo will be needed unless you wanna have access to each of them for battle.

Another factor I thought would be interesting, I got while thinking about the Pokelathon from HeartGold/SoulSilver. What about simply competing in races and other competitions, but these competitions involve your battle stats (no stupid side stats that only come useful during this). And as an undercover agent, Looker will have to plan on aquiring information through different means. Like say a guy won't give you the info unless you beat him in two out of three competitions. Also, i thought that seeing as it was pretty stupid that you could only get stronger for Pokelathons by drinking these shakes, I thought that one could even raise one's stats through good ol' exercise. running laps, lifting weights, etc. and by doing so, one could even raise one's stats for battle. But also, like with cardio, you could even make your pokemon loose weight by exercising, protecting a weakness from moves like low-kick and grass-knot. but you could also gain weight as well by buying powerbars.

At first I was concerned about what to start Looker off with (because Colosseum and Gale of Darkness had already claimed Eevee and its evolutions), but then I remembered that Looker works for the government, or the UN (I forget who the Interpol answer to), and so he should be able to receive any starter, any of the 15 options.

I was also thinking of, for battles, being able to direct the attack yourself, using the targeting option. The Accuracy of the move, and the Evasiveness of the enemy, will then play a more visible role in battle, creating a blue circle around the target. The size of the circle will represent your accuracy/evasiveness ratio, with the amount of Pokemon inside representing the accuracy of the strike. The Pokemon will still have a 10% chance of a miss, if the circle has completely enveloped the pokemon, but, if the circle completely misses, then it has a 0% chance of a hit. The pokemon will still get a chance to hit, and a special remote will be made with a set of four buttons, giving the user the ability to activate one's attacks in real time. fighting and choosing without a stall, unless you hit pause. I think this gives a sort of modern RPG feeling, rather than the simple D&D style that Pokemon has become.

what do you think?

I could use some help with this please.

Or this works too! Could we talk here?
Seeing this, there's another thing:
If you do this, you're probably going to be writing a story.
You seem to be wanting to create a game.
Might want to reconsider a few things...
Also, I think this should be over in Author's Atlas, where my thread is. Not really sure how you'd move it, though...
EDIT:
Map. What info you've given me. Really, really rough because of course, it's not my map and I don't know what you want, exactly...
