My Pokemon Ranch: Can it connect to Platinum?

I have an American Wii and an American Pokemon Platinum, and I was wondering if My Pokemon Ranch could connect to Pokemon Platinum? I need to know this before I decide I want it.

Awww, only in Japan? That's dumb. They should release it outside of Japan soon. Really, all they have to do is do the same thing as they did in Japan, just in America.

The patch has yet to be released in America. I'm not sure why.
