Alright. I delete a post whenever I make a new one to prevent my count from reaching 1000 when I post. When I'm finished deleting my old post, I make my post and it shows my post count as 999. However, sometimes when I log-off and back on, my post count has somehow become 1000 while I was gone.

I checked my old posts and the posts I deleted are definitely still deleted, so just what's happening here?

Well, first off, we would appreciate it if you didn't delete your old posts unless it is absolutely necessary, since that causes ghost pages, which are pretty annoying to regular members who can't see deleted posts.

Anyway, maybe the server hiccups duplicated your posts and you didn't notice? Or, it could just be a glitch. It does sound particularly odd.

Oh so that's how ghost pages are formed! I sorta delete posts in really old threads from way back in 2010, so it doesn't really affect anything unless someone decides to dig through 50+ pages.

also, reports count as a post.
Woah. They do? That explains it. I reported a post or two. So that's why...

Yep. The deleted post "stays" there, it just can't be seen or read unless your a moderator of that section.

Ah, yep, I forgot about that. ^^;; Reported posts do indeed add to your postcount.
