I'm starting a new team of six pokemon. They are:

4. Dragon air

Thoughts? I'd like insight on sawk. My defender is dragonair... thanks much!

Dragonair over Dragonite?

I thought about the dragonair over dragonite. He gain more weaknesses as a flyer but huge stat boosts when fully evolved. I think I'll evolve him fully. Hoping that that will make him a better defender.

Why does Absol have a special attack? Is there no physical you can replace with? And remember that Solar Beam needs a turn to charge if you're not in sunny weather. There's an ability for that; do you have it? If you do, that's very good. Then you can attack on the first turn.

Smogon suggests Ice Punch for sawk. Otherwise, I like Power-Up Punch, but perhaps you don't need two fighting attacks.

Absol has Fireblast as he gets a use able spatt when mega evo. It's primarily to deal with bug types that attempt to switch in. Beat up is to counter fighting types. When Charizard mega evo in "y" he gets the ability to cause drought, thereby allowing solar beam to be used same turn. Again, that's for water coverage. The focus blast is for rock/ ground coverage.

I would use ice punch for Sawk, but it's impossible as he only breeds with ditto and thus has no egg moves. Furthermore, ice punch hasn't transfered into a trainable moves post 5th gen. I should have specified the team is for pokemon y version? Thanks for the advice thus far. Anyone else have any pointers on this team?

Absol can learn Aerial Ace (TM40), Stone Edge (TM71) and Rock Slide (TM80) for dealing with bugs. I would suggest Stone Edge if you want to inflict lots of damage (the bug may be flying too, if so it inflicts even more) or Aerial Ace for better accuracy.
