Mystery Dungeon 3 out in Japan April 18: Partners now have genders

According to more pictures of March's issue of CoroCoro, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky will be released in Japan on April 18. Players will now have the option of choosing their partner Pokémon's gender.

Didn't they have genders before...?

Then again, I never played PMD too much, so I might just be crazy or something.

They had them, but we couldn't choose them.
And it's a nice little addition. Totally useless unless there are gender-exclusive features built in, but nice.

And I notice Eevee returns to the starters' list ; this didn't happen in md2.
Riolu possibly?
Possible to accept Pokémon from md2? Without affecting the md2 file even?

Riolu Might be a Male exclusive. OR Eevee might be a Female exclusive if so That Would be pretty cool like Machop was a Male exclusive in PMD1.. you never know there is nothing much known yet so we will have to wait and see.

I guess the gender thing was to be expected. Maybe have a little story difference between the two...

I'm a bit ticked that this is coming out before the American version of Platinum though.

Edit: Messed up my months there. disregard that last sentence.

Um.. MD3 is coming out after US!Platinum. US Platinum has a release date of March 22nd. April 18th is definetly after that.

The real question is: Was it really necessary to have Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 3, before Genration V?

Is choosing your partner's gender really enough of a hook?

I don't think so.

Its the third installment of PMD2 which goes under the same logic as Platinum: why didn'y they just do that for the first two games--oh yeah they want more money.
