I just found out on Serebii that the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team games are coming to the Wii U Virtual Console. While I am happy about this, and already own the games in question, why aren't they on the 3DS Virtual Console? Wouldn't that be more fitting for them, especially since Blue is for the Nintendo DS and the Wii U looks as though it only has one screen?

Well, there wasn't much difference between the ds and gba versions so i don't think it's that important.

That's fantastic news! Both titles are amongst my absolute favourite Pokémon spin-offs, so these should be added to my wishlist soon.

It's most likely due to the fact that GBA and DS games are exclusive to Wii U's Virtual Console, possibly as a way to differentiate it from the 3DS VC options and, in turn, give people a reason to buy either or both consoles.

While I have to agree that GBA and DS games would work better on the 3DS (Make it happen, Nintendo! ;)), there is method to the madness that is DS games on Wii U. Since the TV and GamePad are essentially treated as separate screens when playing most games on Wii U, it is possible for the TV to display the Top Screen of a DS VC game, while the GamePad displays the Touch Screen of said title. It's really quite nifty, and allows many classic DS games to shine in a new light. :)

I've heard that the 3DS can't really download DS games, so there's that.

Also, wouldn't it be a good idea to add that it's for Europe? I do wish they'd release the VC games in NA as well as Japan, it's sad how both are getting ignored in terms of Pokemon on the Wii U VC releases.

I remember playing Red mystery dungeon when I had the game. Good times. It is great that they bring them back even if it is on virtual console.
