Souce: NARUTO: Nearing The End of a Manga Era | WhatCulture!

Earlier today, Manga Entertainment UK (The UK Distributor of numerous anime titles; including Naruto and Naruto Shippuden) shared this link on their Facebook page which details that Masashi Kishimoto's best-selling manga that began in 1999 will end within the next year.

To those following the series, this is no surprise. The current story arc is the "Fourth Shinobi World War" , which features the five "ninja villages" joining up in war against the big-bad Madara Uchiha, his organisation the Akatsuki, and their army of immortal zombies/tree-things (yes, I'm serious). With Akatsuki's numbers dwindling, and Naruto now joining the war, the series is no doubt at it's end, even if this source happens to be false.

WHAT?!?!?! IT CAN'T I WILL DIE! Really, I really like naruto and even if it goes out epicly...I don't want it to go :'(

All I see here is some guy with terrible grammar writing a generic summary of the series and mentioning in passing something about "the story is now taking place in its finally" [sic].

So... what?

Too many anime snobs shunning Naruto because it's popular.

It's mainly that Manga UK have posted the story gives it some credability, because they have connections with the Japanese licensors, and if the manga is ending in such a short space of time, the animation team would know by now.

The thing is, the manga has been around since 1999, and it's a huge franchise. For people who have been reading it since then, to see it end after 12/13 years, will be big for them.

Probably. What does that have to do with anything?

This isn't an announcement by Manga UK. It's a (badly written) article by some nobody on some site called "Whatculture" that mentions it in passing without providing any source, as if it was common knowledge. If Manga UK wanted to announce that Naruto was ending, they'd... you know, announce it, not link to this drek.

Uh, yeah? Duh?

The way you worded your post made it seem like you were one of those anime snobs, just trollin' 'cos you hate Naruto or something...too many of them exist on the internet.

I know it isn't an announcement by Manga UK, but if it was false, they wouldn't have posted it. I doubt they would have without at least trying to contact the Japanese licensors for comfirmation.

It's about time, but I'm seriously behind the story as I have no source to read the manga, so I don't know what the heck's going on after Naruto finally controls the Kyuubi.

Anybody that actually reads the manga should realize that it is ending. It is pretty obvious. Though, I will be sad, I really enjoy the manga. I hope to god Kishimoto does do a Minato spin-off.

More probably: The dumbfuck intern they put to run their Facebook page came across this crappy article and, not having enough common sense to tell the difference between proper sources and idiots pulling crap from their asses, posted it as some sort of news announcement.

Again, if Manga UK wants to make some sort of sensational announcement, they'll make an announcement, not link to some shitty article written by a 15 year old who doesn't source his claims.

Oh? Uh, mind explaining why? I didn't say a word about the series, positive or negative.

Yeah, Manga UK does have a reputation of putting an idiot in charge of their twitter (Except that isn't the intern - the intern is usually smarter). Wouldn't surprise me if it was Facebook too. If it's false though, I'd expect that someone from Manga UK will admit to it soon.

....also, the article does mostly use fanart instead of actual images of the characters.

Well, the way in which it was worded made it come across as rather confrontational. But this thread isn't to discuss the perceived attitude of someone's post xD

EDIT:
I've just emailed AnimeNewsNetwork, hopefully they should be able to prove or disprove this. Still, considering where the story is now, it wouldn't be a surprise for it to end soon.

Not impossible, but in that case it'll be more a case of a lucky guess. By linking directly to this article (which is neither an announcement that the series is ending nor written by anyone with any particular insider information) it's pretty obvious they're using that article as their primary source for this "news".

If they had received this piece of information because they're the licensees, why would they link to some shitty article on some other, far less trustworthy, site instead of just making a direct announcement?

It's about time!! I'd actually go back to the manga if it got to the darn point!! I look forward to its ending, even if it turns out it's not true. I can still have hope.

As a note Kishimoto's been saying it's gonna end soon for ages.

It's certainly reaching a climax, but it's not impossible that it could be stretched out even longer or Kishi's editors could make him keep going.

Whether the announcement's true or not, I THINK Naruto will end this year, or at least next year.

I've been keeping up with Naruto ever since the start, and I'm currently reading everything up to date.

A little spoilers - Naruto finally takes part in the war, and the (seemingly) final boss of the series, Uchiha Madara, made his move.

There's a lot going on with a heck of a lot of details, but Kishimoto is doing a good job not rushing into anything.

When Sasuke finally makes his appearance, that would make the last part of the story. He's going to appear sometime later in the war, I'm betting on it.

The reason why I stuck with Naruto this far is because of THIS current arc. The WAR. It just gives an atmosphere that 'Naruto's going to end soon, Naruto's going to end soon' fills the pages.

Naruto LOOKS like it's going to end soon. This war could be the final arc of Naruto.
