Alright, my personal opinion on the anime is that it totally rocks. It can be addictive to watch. However, I hate the dubbed english version simply for the fact that they miss things out and change things round. This irritates me greatly which is why I never ever watch it on Jetix. >>; The new episodes are out and I am looking forward to veiwing them very soon. The manga itself, is also good. I love the artwork and it is also slightly different even from the original episodes themselves. I recommend the manga mostly. READING IS EDUCATIONAL! Anyway, my favourite characters in "Naruto" are Temari, Gaara, Kankurou and Shikamaru. I also adore Narutos character. Although, Sakura and Ino annoy me. Not many seem to mention Chouji when asked about the show/manga but I always make some point to bring him up because I think he is pretty awesome.

I think I am rambling so I'll end my first post here and see what you guys have got to say. ^^;; Eheh heh...

Well, I myself totally HATE the show..
The farting jokes, fighting style, everything!
Darn, you may think it's cool cause you only watch those fighting shonens like Bleach, Naruto etc..
Well watch Death Note, Haruhi, Tenjho Tenge, Air Gear or any other GOOD anime and if you still think Naruto is cool then you have problems.

Uh, the dub is one of the best dubs on cable. Atleast on CN.

Although, I have heard the Jetix was edited more...but not by much.

I like Naruto... but I skipped all of the fillers. I wasn't interested in seeing how the Animators wanted to change the characters (and potentially open them up to plot holes). I been watching Shipuden but they are stretching out the series so it has that annoying DBZ feeling now. (But I will give them something, because I like it better than the "what if" eppisodes One Piece does)

As for the comics, I like the second half where they are teenagers much better. The characters are a lot more developed and complex with their attitudes causing a lot of surprise moves. Some of which are plot twist way out of character for the series, but it's all good fun.

I think the Anime is dubbed great though. They did the best they could considering the audience and what they have. I mean, "believe it" is probably the best substitution for "Dattebayo" (If they left it, it would make no sense and confuse watchers)

The Death Note cartoon... :p I don't want to say it because I want people to watch it when it comes on TV, but it's not as good as the comics. It's true it's almost exactly the same, but the timing is a lot better and more dramatic in the comics. As for the movies... I don't like them, they felt like they were catering to fangirls (and more horror) with how they changed the story.

I still think that if you are going to make a Deathnote movie (which I think Hollywood should do) you shouldn't recreate the comic, but do something more like the original one shot: give the book to some random person and watch chaos ensue. (Then they can do sequels like crazy that way, which hollywood loves :p.)

I guess I should add I prefer DN to Naruto, but I think it's a pretty cool series and is probably the new DBZ in america.

Overall, the Naruto anime is pretty good as is the manga. The only problems I've got with it are that there's less plotline than there is overdramatization with the fighting scenes and the characters (I wish they wouldn't have had each of their backstories so long and that they wouldn't have overpromoted Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and other characters that you see the most frequently while others that add some interest to the series get left in the dark). Also, it takes forever for the little story that there is to it to unfold, which is why I'm not as obsessed with it as I otherwise would've been.

Naruto is pretty much the new DBZ.

Death Note won't, as I'm sure that will get alot of flak by concerned parents.

I'm surprised that Naruto became the "new DBZ", and not Bleach. In any case though...I'm still fairly fond of the series, though I skipped most of the fillers. Like others here, my favorite characters are mainly side-characters, so while I do keep up with the overall plot line, just so I know what's going on, I don't watch it constantly. Just when I know one of my favorites is gong to be present.

I think, as with a lot of animes, you either like Naruto, or you don't. I myself, don't. It intruiged me a bit, but in the end, I just don't dig martial arts-related shows.

Not so sure about fart jokes; apart from the Kiba-Naruto battle (ep 45) and Biko bug story (ep 150), I can't see too much more. It is the sort of combination between humour and action that the DB animators tried to achieve with the first 16 episodes of DBGT. Kishimoto has himself said that Naruto was influenced by Toriyama's work (Dragonball). Must be the orange clothing and SSJ-yellow hair. There also seems to be a Pokémon influence also. Main character, very headstrong, absolute idiot, how else do you describe Jariboy? As for epic drawn-out battles, you can't beat the Kakarotto-Frieza 21-episode epic (DBZ eps 87-107).

No, that sort of spunky attitude is common in Boy's Anime :p

Many Artist are also influenced by Dragonball one way or another because it was a major show that started so many things for Shonen Manga. I don't think there is any relation to Naruto, and the inspiration is probably just inspiration to create comics. (Which is what Toriyama did to a lot of new comic artist today)

You can draw lines of enemies becoming allies, and action comedy, but Naruto is pretty different from Dragonball as a whole. So I'm sure it was more just inspiration to become a comic artist.

Actually, Naruto seems to be alot more DBZ battles then Ninja antics.

They don't ever seem to use stealth now, instead going with huge blast filled battles.

I tried to watch Naruto back before it was licensed, but I only got up to around Episode 20 before getting bored with it.

Also, if there's ever an anime that's "the new DBZ," it's One Piece. Well, in Japan, anyway.

Naruto definately seems the new DBZ in America.

It's been the New Years Marathon for it's two years on cable, and CN seem to give it marathons almost regularly...a 100 episode marathon is coming up.

I hope once Funi gets 4kids it gets some loving.

That's why I said "in Japan." As far as popularity goes, Naruto definately beats One Piece in the U.S. (in fact, that's one of the reasons Toei pulled the license from 4Kids in the first place). But as far as story structure, characterization, and general feel goes, One Piece seems more like the spiritual successor of Toriyama's work.

I totally agree with you on that Dogasu, as you can probably tell by my avatar.

I'll go with this. Naruto is the best anime in america for battles at the moment. BLEACH has the most complex plot, along with the best soundtrack. One Piece has the funniest characters, and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu is the best all-round show. (minus it's lack of battle scenes, but that's not very bad)

I wouldn't count Haruhi out on the cool battles part, and also, from what I've seen bleach isn't that complex of a series. From what I've seen (which is the American releases. I still haven't bothered with the subs even though I have them) it's pretty much excuses to fight. The only thing really interesting at the moment is Ichigo and his power which implies good and evil. The Consipiracies and Rukia's relationships with family and soul reapers in the Soul Society and such feels pretty shonen standard to me.

I still like it though. Very stylish, especially with the clothing (but that artist usually always is)

My main problem with this show that it keeps dragging on and on and on...

All this filler and 10+ episodes for a single episode. (Sentence partly exaggerated.)

But at some point I might check Shippuden.

So yeah, really not my favorite.

Shippuden is... okay... they are stretching the story out like DBZ :p
