Hi, can someone explain to me if I want to have a physical or special sweeper, whether I should have a nature that benefits it's attack stat like adamant or modest: or whether i should use a speed nature that decreases the other stat I'm not going to use, like jolly or timid. Thankyou.

It depends on what pokemon. If your pokemon has a naturally high Attack / Sp. Atk stat, then you should focus on your speed stat, then add the leftovers to the offensive stats.

Some pokemon just can't outrun others like Rampardos and Tyranitar. Then you should focus on the offensive stats and save the rest for speed or defense. (and please don't practice defense on Rampardos...)

This thing is reverse if you use Avalanche or any attack that requires you to attack last. Thats where low speed comes in handy, other wise high speed is nice.

Lets put it this way, and offensive stat and speed are like pairs, one has to fuction for the other one. So if you have a sweeper, focus on the offensive areas and speed. Rampardos's downfall is that it has an amazingly high attack stat but doesn't have the speed to use it.

Lets take Alakazam for an example. Alakazam has an amazingly high sp.atk and speed so it can strike high damage before the opponent does.

Rampardos has a high Atk stat but doesn't have the speed. And It's pitiful defense won't allow it to take a hit.

Alakazam and Rampardos are in a battle. Alakazam uses psychic and Rampardos is gone before it even attacks.

So offensive pokemon should focus on speed and offense.

If you have a pokemon with a good offense stat but average speed, use a speed boosting nature. vice versa
