Have you ever had any near-death experiences in your life? If so, post 'em here.

I nearly bled to death (see "Worst pain you've ever felt in your life thread)

That, and I nearly had a rib puncture my lung.

And I fall down staircases headfirst on a weekly basis.

I nearly got hit by a car. (Mind you, the driver was talking on her cellphone instead of PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD)

Nearly got trampled by horses.

Nearly drowned in the ocean.

This list could go on a while.

Snake bite while walking to the video store when I was eleven, wasn't particularly painful but it was scary as hell.

I almost got plowed down in a parking lot while walking with my mom to the bus stop

Almost drowning.

Ditto. I can't swim at all and I was in the water one time and I went in farther than I should have and a big wave came and knocked me over into the water and if it wouldn't have been for two people saving me, I would have drowned for sure. Scary, isn't it?

Bunch of morbid threads popping up, aren't there?

Uh, I'd say when last year on camp when a friend and myself thought it would be a great idea to sneak out at midnight and go to the all-hours McDonalds. Needless to say, it was a very shifty place we where at, and as we walked, a very grubby man had halted his car and told us to get in using this bitterly, serious tone. We just kept walking along, before we heard the car door slam.
And then we ran, of course! — but to the McDonalds, where we stayed until the morning :/

Sure, not a near-death experience, but with people like that, you really never know ...

I've been cliff-jumping...and I also SCUBA, so I've swam with sharks and such and gone over a hundred feet underwater..

My life wasn't really threatened directly either time, but they're both pretty risque!

Well I can swim, it's just that I came close to drowning several times.

Well, I think I would consider this a near death experience...?

I somehow managed to avoid a nasty car wreck when I was little. My mom, dad, and sister decided they wanted to go Christmas shopping. All we had at the time was a single bench seat ford truck, that was only supposed to seat 3 people but we would often all squeeze in... Anyways, I decided I didn't want to go shopping with them since I had stayed up late at a friends b-day party the night before and I wanted to sleep. Well sure enough, they're on there way to the mall and some old dude t-bones them at an intersection. There truck rolled at least a dozen times. No one got threw out because they all had seat belts on. If I would have went, I would have been the one without a seat belt because I always rode in someones lap since the other three were taken by my sister and ma/pa. Its safe to say anyone in that crash w/o a seat belt would have been killed. I thanked god for all that Mario Cart, Goldeneye and playing pokemon cards the night before. Actually, I think Nintendo saved my life... xDDD

But due to the chaos theory, chances are your car wouldn't have been t-boned had you gone along with your family.

A little thing can translate to a massive thing, I'm sure you wouldn't have been t-boned due to the extra few seconds that would have been wasted in you getting in the car with your family.

I can not think of one time in my life where I've been even close to death.

Never been in a car accident, never broken or fractured anything, never bled profusely, never been run over, never sunk too far underwater, never been bitten by a vicious reptile, never even been stung by a bee, never had a bad allergic reaction to anything...

I have a few more.

Nearly died of a severe allergic reaction to bee stings (Mind you, I got stung by 18 of them. This is why I'm also an apiphobic)

Would have been decapitated by an axe that fell off its display stand at an antiqe store

I'm not sure if this would be near-death, but I once got so sick that my body wouldn't hold down ANY food or drink. So I ended up having to go to the hospital and put on IVs and crap. It sucked.

I threw up blood after the doctors messed up my Tonsil surgery (Idiots cut out my uvula as well).

I also was almost hit by a car.

lol, join the club. ^_^

They mostly just put me in a room.

I went home after the surgery feeling funny. I tried to eat, but instead I threw up blood. My mother screamed and got me a bucket, and we drove back to the hospital.

When I was sick (see my previous post in this thread) I ended up throwing up blood. That was back in either 4th or 5th grade, though.

I don't have any near-death experiences myself, but my sister has one.

She was adopted from China, and while my parents were wrapped up in legal stuff finalizing her papers and crap, the local hospital misdiagnosed her with leukemia.

Everything turned out okay in the end, though.

EDIT: I also remembered a time when my sister was a bay and I was watching her while she was taking her bath, then she suddenly slipped underwater and I apparently picked her up out of the water.

So I saved my sister from drowning. Am I a good onee-san, or what?

Really? I never knew that.
