My guppy has been acting strange lately. First she hangs out at the top of the tank, by the heater. I thought maybe she was just cold, but then she was swimming on her side, and now she's swimming with her tail up. None of the other fish seem affected at all.

So what could this be?

According to this, she's pregnant and trying to give birth!

"The female will try to find a hiding place, being it behind plants in the tank or often times, my females hang out near the heater."

"A female may even have her head pointed down and tail pointed up in attempts to deliver."

But read the link above; there's more that should be done, like having a breeding tank and separating the mother from her fry (or she may eat them).

*sniff* This reminds me of my sister's dearly departed Koi fish.

We called it "Amidamaru", only to discover that 'he' was a 'she'.

Love to hear an update on how your fishy is doing. Guppies are cute. :ksmile:
