Well, I keep trying to catch some legendary pokemon (lake trio, heatran,giratina,reggigigas) but im haveing alot of trouble and need some tips =)

Tip 1: Use the Simple Questions thread
Tip 2: Ultra Balls. If they're in caves, Dark Balls arguably work even better.
Tip 3: Status. Anything but burning and poisoning (as then you run the risk of them fainting before you can catch them.
Tip 4: Gook luck

for azelf, uxie and heatran in caves
use dusk balls this is crucial

get a mean look false swiper prefered fast and strong
get a back up mean look false swiper incase first one faints
get a sleeper if you have darkrai use dark void otherwise gengar with hypnosis make sure gengar is fast
or you can try freezing

Actually, Dusk Ball over Ultra Ball if in a cave or at night isn't even arguable.

It's a solid fact that the Dusk multiplier is 4x, while Ultra Ball is 2x.

Basically what the others said, False Swipe + Mean Look is useful, I bred myself some Absol with Mean Look and trained one up and taught it False Swipe to catch the bird trio, first time I really messed around with EV's to get it's speed up.

The main thing is to be persistent and have something bulky to take some punishing from them. Dusk balls are a must in caves, and if it's taking a long time and they're still not going into balls Timer balls can be worth consideration.
