Negative stat gain (loss)?!

I am fighting Crasher Wake in the Battleground. I took out his Sharpedo with Magmortar's Thunderpunch and his Quagsire with Torterra's Frezy Plant. Them I used my Origin Forme Giratina to take out his Gyarados with thunderbolt, and I level up to lvl 69.

What baffles me is the stat gain screen, which displays the following:

Max. HP: +5
Attack: +30
Defense: +-25
Sp. Atk: +30
Sp. Def: +-22
Speed: +3

Why is this happening? I have two abnormally high gains and two never-before-seen-in-my-experience-playing-Pokemon stat LOSES.

IS this a glitch or what? I don't want to continue on fear of my Giratina becoming to whacked-out.
 
Giratina's Origin Forme does have lower DEF & SPDEF Base Stats (100 from 120), and higher ATK & SPATK Base Stats (120 from 100). But, the stats recalculate on forme change, though your game might have somehow skipped that... Though it shouldn't without some major issue/hack.

Stats also get recalculated when you use a PC box, or gain a level. So, your Giratina's stats could have been normalizing and somehow weren't recalculated when they were supposed to be...

You can't lose stats. Take a picture for proof, though. Stats recalculate automatically on form change.

You hacked your game or no?
 
If I quit the battle, and put Giratina in the box and take it out again do you think that'll fix it?

Another edit: No my game has not been hacked/tampered with.

I am guess that happened because after beating each gym it allows your pokemon to gain more stats or obay you after a certian level. There is one gym that allows the sp attack to be raised slightly (or other stats I am not sure) so this could be cause because you don't have all badges, the pokemons stats can only go so high and then maybe go negitive if they reach as far as they can go before you have the badge that lets the stats raise higher?
 
This is not in a gym. It's rebattling the gym leaders in a seprate place in Platinum.


On an unrelated note, can a mod move this topic to the correct subforum? I just noticed that the forum was labeled "BulbaPEDIA general," not "BulbaGARDEN general."

Did you make your Giratina hold the Griseous Orb just before the battle began, and not check on the stats?

Go through INCREDIBLY DETAILED how you did this, everything from when you last saved to the negagain.

Also, is this Giratina from Pt or DP?

Q1: Giratina is always holding the Griseous Orb, the only time it's off is when it detaches itself while trading w/ my diamond version.

Q2: This is my only ever negagain. I've just been training all over, various trainers wilds and I also fought Candice and Cheryl in the Battleground, saving before each one and healing afterwards. Then when Giratina leveled up against Wake's Gyarados, well....it happened.

Q3: This Giratina is from Pt caught in the Distortion World w/ a timer ball.


So far the problem seems to lie in the game for some reason not calculating the swapped Offense/Defense stats between forms. I'll try putting it in a PC box and taking it back out and leveling it up against the same Pokeyman.

However, it is 2:00 AM, and I require sleep.
 
The only times I've seen this are when I alter my pokemon's stats with Pokesav, particularly if I'm fumbling with the EVs.

If that's happening without any sort of hacking, then either your game is messed up or you're on to something.
 
what's its stats after the negitave gain and what level is your girintia at?

Edit: Okay, I deposited Giratina in a box, left the PC and then took it out. This time the stats were normal when I leveled up.

I guess Kogoro was right, Platinum for some reason did not adjust the stats. I have not hacked my game; however, I have traded/mixed records with friends of mine who have hacked. Could that have doe it?

Wait, you traded it from D/P to Platinum? I hadn't seen that part until now.
Origin Giratina has his attack and defense swapped, so when he switches between formes and levels up his stats adjust to the change. So basically, Platinum IS adjusting the stats.
 
Not to be a negative nancy...but this doesn't belong here.
