Neo Genesis- I would welcome some advice!

Hey everyone. I have recently got back into collecting pokemon cards, having stopped for a few years, mainly thanks to some good deals on ebay which allowed me to complete (bar 2 common energies!) my diamond and pearl base set for around £10 (includeing 2 of the level Xs). I also couldn't reseist bidding on a few other cards whilst I was at it and managed to win a 1st edition Neo Genesis Typhlosion for £3.44 (including £2 P&P!) . When it arrived I had a look on the internet at the neo genesis set and, having only started collecting the cards from ex series onwards, decided I'd like to try and collect an older set. Of all the old sets Neo Genesis looked the best in my opinion even though its probably the set I have the fewest cards from!! (My Typhlosion and about 5 random commons/uncommons). I would love to collect the set and was wondering how I should go about it. I have bought 4 1st edition boosters off ebay for £28.50 but would I now be better to just buy the cards individually or what? (I havn't recieved the boosters yet so don't know what cards i need) Does anyone have/know of a place I can get these cards/boosters for a good price in th UK? Also do you think I got a good deal with my Typhlosion and boosters or have I payed too much? Finally do you think its a realistic idea trying to collect this set now or is it a bit ambitous?

I would much appreciate some fresh opinions/advice.

Buying cards that are individual from the internet sucks. Buy them individually in RL, or get booster packs (unless the boosters are too expensive).

Hmm. I've found buying on ebay a great way to get a good deal. I payed £2 total for Infernape lv X and £3 for Torteraa lv X. I also got all the rares I needed for less than £1 each! All were in pretty much mint condition aswell...

it really depends on what you need, partially... usually its a better idea to buy singles, though i dont know what your currency value are (U.S. resident ). you should try trollandtoad.com (I dont know if they have 1st edition though)

But that's bring, there's no surprise to it. You don't have to try to collect a set, you just need the money. With boosters, it's a lot more fun. Individuals from internet bore me.

Yeah I did buy 4 boosters- i've opened 3 and didn't get a single holo. I do want to collect the whole set and so i need holos- thats a lot of packs I would need to by to get them all!!

i can see buying boosters if you dont have many cards out of the set, but once you only need 20ish more cards out of a set, it really isnt even close to being worth it (unless you are really lucky)

I get your point. And yeah I think I'm just gonna buy individuals fro now on...

Thought i'd just give a quick update. I bought a 1st ed. Holo metal energy for £2.50 total. And an unlimited Typhlosion holo (17/111) for £3. I also managed to win 28 1st editions for £3.31- most were just commons but it did include dark energy, Mary, super energy retrievel, card flip game and miracle berry. Again- a second opinion would be good on the price of these cards I've bought...
