This is just a simple poll.

Do you like the new or old pokemon

i do not know if someone else has posted this thread or a similiar thread so please close the thread:)

Personally, I think they both have their charms. The old games have that "older game appeal" while the news one have a lot more to do and more to see. They both have their pros and cons. Of course, I'll go ahead and say new just for the fact that N is in the newer game. XD

N makes everything for me. XD

I prefer the old ones... partly out of nostalgia (as I have played the games in order starting with Red) and partly out of originality. For example, Grimer and Trubbish. Similar concepts... I prefer Grimer. If Trubbish was Generation I I'd probably like him more than Grimer, as he'd be the original and Grimer would feel as if he was already done before (the same feeling I get from Trubbish).
When originality is not a factor, I still prefer Generation I (except for a few Generation I Pokémon that I don't like and a few Generation V ones that I do). Design-wise, Generation I are just better. More simplistic, more believable.
Another thing might be themes... Generation I was "science" (lots of dinosaur stuff, genetic stuff, etc). Newer themes aren't as interesting.

As for the games themselves... with the exception of Generation V I still like the older ones more.

The good thing about Pokemon is that they are made to look unique and individual to each other, so you can't really rate the old and the new because they all look so different from each other. I love most of the designs and think they are highly imaginative regardless of what generation they are from ^^.

Since N is in the newer games, I'd say N, but that's one guy :(

All of my other fav guys are in the older games, and especially RSE XDD

After being a Pokemon fan since Season 1, I would always prefer the old ones. The new ones don't feel appealing to be honest. It seemed like they took the old Pokemon names and mix them up.

Dewgong = Dewott
Zubat = Woobat
Piplup = Lillipup
Whiscash = Whimsicott

There are more, but I don't feel like having a long list of similarities.

There's both new and old Pokémon I dislike and vice versa. I don't really have a preference, barring Gen V-introduced Pokémon; I don't care for most of them.

Does Generation III's Pokemon count as old? Because if they do, then old.

Honestly, I like some pokemon from each generation, and dislike some pokemon from each generation. Besides, what is "New" or "Old" depends quite a bit on perspective.. I started playing in generation 1 when it was released in the US, so everything after the original 151 is "New" to me, but to many generation 3 pokemon are "Old" now...

Generic animals with something added to them, versus a crazy variety of quirky things that come from extensive research on all sort of myths, organisms, and cultures.

Surely enough, still plenty of Gen I pokémon had some really cool and interesting concepts and designs, while still even now some pokémon opt from more simpler ones...
But I still don't get why so many people insist in that the simplistic animals are objectively better.

I prefer the newer ones.
Sinnoh and Unova have the best-looking Pokémon in my opinion and 90% of my favorites are from this regions.

But I like Gen-I and Gen-II Pokémon, although most of them have dull and stupid designs.

Gen-III Pokémon are so-so in my opinion.

The Pokémon themselves, it's a tie. I like them just as much! My favorite games are the new ones, I think the plot is better and the graphics are simply awesome. I almost can't stand looking at a gen 1 game, simply because of the graphics!
