The two remakes so far have introduced various new areas not in the original versions. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen introduced the Sevii Islands, a "mini region" of sorts complete with its own sidequests. The entire archipelago was not unlocked until post game, and it included many Pokemon from Generation II. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver introduced two new routes, namely Route 47 and Route 48, as well as a safari zone in Johto, which lacked one in the original versions.

Do you think Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will also include new areas that were not present in the original versions? What do you want to see added? What do you think will be added? I personally think it'll probably happen, not sure what, at the moment.

The islands in the south east. THEY NEED TO BE ACCESSIBLE.

And maybe some more places as well.

All of those unexplored islands on the sea. And maybe new places to Dive as well?

The way they're talking, I think there's going to be a lot more areas in this game. Here are some things I think they could add:

-A new area on the south side of Dewford Island, accessible through Granite Cave
-More islands dotted throughout the sea routes
-That one inaccessible island near Rt. 109
-A new route leading east from Evergrande City
-A new post game archipelago connected to the Battle Frontier.

I want a town in the desert (and the desert itself expanded). Nothing huge, but just something haha!

Or an underground ancient city buried in the desert like what they had in B2/W2?
Except people are living in it?!

If ORAS are set after the originals, I can see Mirage Tower serving as a ruins area, except this time you would progress from the top down.

A ruins city, though? IDK, it doesn't seem like there's enough room in the that part of Hoenn for such a place.

That's why I said "underground".

Doesn't matter, the map is still fairly clustered. For that matter, do we really need a city there? I mean, Lavaridge is just a stone's throw away from the desert. They usually don't add cities in places that are already pretty busy.

It'd be nice if we can expand Shoal Cave into full-on Ice Area, since they're barely any Ice types in Hoenn.

Definitely an expanded Shoal Cave, maybe even an expanded Rusturf Tunnel, as well. And Evergrande City needs to be an actual city; I can see them expanding it to be something like Kiloude City, except the good stuff would be accessible after you become Champion. Maybe the Friend Safari would be there while the Safari Zone would still be in Lilycove City.

Obviously they should include more in those sea routes... Wow the southeast of Hoenn is so barren compared to the northwest, I'm just now realizing how barren that part really is. o_o

Oh definitely, I remember when they got to Ever Grande City in the anime and I was just completely dumbfounded when it turned out to be an ACTUAL city.

Also, definitely scatter some islands around the bareness that is the Hoenn Sea, maybe have a small town or something?

I don't think Shoal Cave needs to be expanded, there's no real need to do so. A snowy route doesn't really fit the region, and they could fit all of the Ice types they need into Shoal Cave and the surrounding areas.

Evergrande City, though? Definitely. A flower field with a Pokemon Center is NOT a city, they at least should put some houses there to show that people actually live there.

A snowy area in Hoenn doesn't make much sense; it's climate is very tropical. Hopefully the graphical update we'll be getting will reflect that, and we'll have things like palm trees, etc.

Lots of people have mentioned the southern islands in Hoenn being shown on maps but never being accessible, I'd like to see them made into an actual location.

Even before the OR/AS confirmation I've noticed people mentioning the Sevii Islands being a possibility due to you being able to visit Navel Rock and Birth Island in Emerald. It'd be nice to visit Sevii again, but I always see it as an area very much linked to Kanto.

The problem is we need more Ice types because Glacia doesn't have enough representation. Aside from that, turning Shoal Cave into an Ice-type area would:
  • Further differentiate the cave from all others (as only a single room has drastically different Pokemon)
  • Solve the aforementioned Glacia problem
  • Give a place to put an Ice Rock

Since Hoenn is based from real life Kyushu region of Japan, maybe we'll also get additional Pokemon version of the Okinawa Islands. I also think the Battle Frontier will have more additional places.

Alternative idea: make some more islands in the north that are accessible (but FAR AWAY), and that ARE snowy, to also give more wild Ice types and stuff.

Hoenn needs more sea routes *shot*

I agree that all those islands scattered around Hoenn needs to be accessible (ok not all of them, but some). More divable areas would be nice, and possibly a secret cavern for post game purposes.
