snakebyte 3D HDMI cable with exclusive Darbee Visual PresenceTM technology at E3 2011

snakebyte’s exclusive Darbee Visual PresenceTMtechnology turns 2D images into 3D experiences

E3 2011, the world’s largest gaming trade fair, is right around the corner, and snakebyte is gearing up to present its DarbeeVision™ technology for HDMI cables, which can turn 2D images into 3D experiences – without glasses or additional equipment. DarbeeVision™ utilizes the neurological and biological principles that underlie human vision to add a three-dimensional component to two-dimensional images.

The features of the snakebyte 3D HDMI cable include:

· Features patented Darbee Visual Presence™ Technology inspired by neuro-biological models of human vision

· Embeds real depth cues in monoscopic, digital images and thus causes enhanced perception of object shape

· Sublime solution for making 2D images look full of depth and realism by putting into an image more of what the human brain is expecting to take out

· Resolution-independent, real-time processing with performance surpassing 1080p@60Hz

· Revolutionary image processing without artifacts or enhancing image noise

· Works for any digital image and all kinds of devices (DVD Players, digital TV, video games, computers etc.)

· Darbee Visual Presence™ brings a never-before-seen level of realism to 2D images

The new 3D HDMI cable with Darbee Visual Presence™ technology will be offered around the world, exclusively by snakebyte. Its 3D capabilities will be presented for the first time at E3 2011 at the snakebyte stand in the West Hall, booth 5744. Snakebyte plans to release the cable in 2011.

Whoa. That's really cool. I wondered when they'd start using neuroscience more to do 3D.

When I watched a BluRay on someone's HDTV, the quality was so high it looked more 3D to me already, so this seems like a perfectly reasonable approach.

What I dislike about current 3DTV's is the fact that despite being "3D", the images still look like flat images layered on top of one another, which makes it even more obvious that the images are still flat.

3D technology doesn't have a future in applying itself to televisions. Customers hire televisions to perform a job. It may be background while washing the dishes or doing such menial tasks. It is an entertainment showpiece that can be watched by anybody. It is the medium of choice for almost a century's worth of content. It requires a much smaller investment (time and money) to watch TV than to watch a movie or to play a game.

3D is detrimental to all of these functions. It excludes many potential viewers. It is difficult to perform another task while watching something in 3D. It is prohibitively expensive. It has a small library of content (and, as the market has shown, a smaller library of content people will watch). It offers no value in terms of watching the news or old movies or sports.

The 3D bug came and went for movies after Avatar. I expect it to do the same for Television, as HD and Blu-ray have for the PS360.
