New DP Opening, "The Greatest Everyday"

After many variations, High Touch, the opening song for Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl will be replaced in 2010 with a new song entitled The Greatest・Everyday! (サイコー・エブリディ！). High Touch was featured in over 50 episodes, debuting during the DP96/97 special in late 2008. The instrumental version of The Greatest・Everyday! [サイコー・エブリディ!(インストバージョン)] has been announced on the upcoming Dotchi~Nyo? (ドッチ～ニョ?) CD.

The CD will be released in Japan on December 16th, 2009.
It is currently unknown what episode the new opening will air on or if the lyrical version will be included on the CD.

Edit: Ok, it's "The Greatest" instead of "Psycho" now.

サイコー means "the greatest," not "psycho." It's what we linguists call a "false friend."

It's usually written in kanji (最高), but it sometimes appears in katakana as well.

It's interesting to see what new animation the opening has. Gone will be the Galactic/J stuff, as well as the old Pokemon, and we may see some new stuff.

I honestly wonder if we'll see something like an Elite 4 or Frontier Brain montage in this, it would be a nice way to hype up what's coming up next.

We might even see some clips from potential Sinnoh league matches. I'm pretty sure the opening never changed this close to the start of a league before.

Yes we have. Right after Pryce, Right after the twins, and lookie here, a long time after Candice.

I'm actually not sick of High Touch, even with the largely inferior remix, so it's kind of a shame to see it go. But on the other hand, hopefully we'll get some better visuals. Too much random running around over maps and stuff wasn't all that great.

'Greatest' definately sounds like it would be apt to accompany some Elite 4 animation, though I'm not holding my breath. It does sound like the sort of opening where you'd get a quick montage of all the past captures too, so I'm personally crossing my fingers to see some of that. Always nice to catch a glimpse of the Oak'd guys.
Also, I'd like a scene where all his current pokemon are seen attacking that isn't rather 'meh'. If there's anything Together had over High Touch, it was that.

They gotta have something else in it than Main cast + rivals, otherwise it'll be pretty dull. Seems very plausible with a segment consisting of the Elite Four and Cynthia. Can't have the Gym Leaders since 7/8 of them are already defeated, so hopefully the four elites and the champion are featured.

I told you we'll get a new OP in 2010! It was obvious since not only the song title include "2009" (and I doubt a third version for it) but they stopped to update it for like half a year
Hopefully we'll get some nice scenes with Barry, as he's the only rival (well, other than Nando...) who never appeared in an OP/ED by now
I wonder who's going to sing this one... hopefully it'll be a good

Getting a new opening song is always exciting. I'm interested to hear what it's like when it's released, and I'm curious to see which characters (other than the main ones obviously) they're going to include in the opening sequence.

This also will have some spaces or places that look random or empty so we might be to speculate, at least I hope so.

Yeah, that would be pretty cool. Though I'm guessing if they have the E4 in there too, the opening would change after Flint and Bertha get their debuts.

I'm glad we're getting a new opening. Openings seriously should not be used for more than 50 episodes! Barry, Paul, and Zoey (to an extent) better appear in this opening for more than a simple cameo. I'm also kinda hoping Volkner and the Elite 4 are featured as well.

Wow, an honest-to-God new opening? Not a remix of an existing one? It's our lucky day!

I loved their choice in taste for the current ED so the outlook is 'Good'. And of course, there's a chance at spoilers! Delicious, delicious spoilers.

I would have loved a Pocket Monsters opening called "Psycho". D:

But yay, new opening! This better be one of the more basass openings; we haven't had one of those in a while. Lots of dynamic battling and displays of attacks, plz.

And the release of the actual song sometime soon would be nice.

I'm hoping that this is a more rock-y OP like Battle Frontier or Spurt! It's been too long since we've had one of those.
