Will they come up with new ones?

What do you think they could be?

And, if you're creative, come up with your own!

I highly doubt they will introduce new elemental types. There is a good balance with the 17 we have now, and introducing new types would throw that balance into unnecessary distortion.

Adding Dark and Steel was okay in Gen II, because the types were off-balance anyway in Gen I. Psychic was practically invincible, so they changed the existing types' effectiveness and added two more to balance the game.

Things are fine now, so we don't need any more elemental types.

I was thinking this last night and thought we don't need more elemental types, but for fun I thought:

Glass = Reflects beam attacks, not affected by poison. Ground, Rock, fighting and steel are super effective and not effective are electric, psychic, ghost and bug and rest are normal effective. Glass is not effective against anything except normal which it is super effective.

No, it's just that, regardless of where the ideas come from, everyone says the same things. No kidding. Glass type? Not original. ANything else you wil think of? Not original!

Cyber, rubber, crystal, magma, carbon, star, dust, tree, earth, wind, etc etc etc and so on and so forth, nothing!

And Light type?

Every time someone says, "Light type!" I have the urge to put a starving African child with a kitten or puppy in hand...into oncoming traffic. I'm borderline psychotic because of it. Please, think of the starving African children with kittens and puppies.

Well it's probably more likely than what people can come up with. Heart, anyone? :3

They don't really need more types, but if they were to add one, I think an oddball type like "Life" would be kind of cool. But really, anything they can think of besides Light (which is clichéd) would be pretty darn abstract. All the more reason they likely won't make a new type.

pppft its actaully prettyy hard to think of new types, all a keep thinkin is things from yu-gi-oh like wind and all that. A suppose it is realli hard to come up with original stuff.

hm how about something like the cosmo type , were they have a weakness to Ghost and Psychic ( Idea from these types not being part of natural world) , and they are strong against Fire Water Grass ( idea of these types being natural were a comet or asteriod could easily obliterate them)

and for the energy card in TCG it could just be a black hole with light shining out of it

a dunno am just making up ideas , duno if it makes sense

moves could be cosmo crash causing like alot of damage but also hits in recoil, solar blitz causing a lot of damag but reducing accuracy for user or universal screech which in a double battle greatly reduces opponents spec attack, attack, spec defence, defence and speed

the pokemon could be named things like comentaur, which could be like a comet with a tail and legs poking out of the holes or summit a dunno just an idea

there can be a legendary who represents all the planets, it could be like a mewtwo shaped creature with wings and huge horns with a special move it only learns called planet collision which causes massive damage.

just a suggestion

Actually, come to think of it, if they could come up with a less cheesy name, that might actually work.

Also, quick thing that made me cringe: a black hole with light shining out of it? That is the opposite of a black hole, as not only do we not know what they look like because they "absorb" light, that is also the only way we can identify their locations. So therefore, since we don't know what one looks like, if there is light coming out of something, it immediately stops being a black hole. I'm not trying to be rude, but that just hurt my science senses. :p

New Element Types is pointless. The only reason that two new types debut in Gen II was because Psychic Types were too powerful in Gen I, so came the type that isn't affect by any Psychic attacks (Dark). Steel was created to have a very strong defensive types (that again Psychics can't hurt) and give some of the weaker types from Gen I stronger.

That's why Fighting, Fire, Ground are good against Steel (though they did make the weak Poison Type even weaker since they can hurt Steel at all).

Having 17 Types in Pokémon is fine. It's more than enough and we have a good selection of types. If anything was missing that type would have debut already.

I think with the amount of element types already there are a good amount that provides a good balance. Light would be an obvious choice I think if they did go with another type.

I made a new type called Bone.

There are a few Pokemon I've made up that are Bone type. Most of them look like skeletons.

There should be a Jelly element, like some Pokemon should be made out of jelly and it'd be rare like the dragon type.

And it would be strong against nothing and weak against nothing, but physical attacks would have no effect. ;-)

So like a Flan from Final Fantasy, except a lot harder to defeat?

How about a Plasma type? Don't ask me how it would work though.

And I wouldn't mind a Light type if they literally meant Light- as in made of light, not as a synonym for good.

That would be the best way for it to work, especially considering Dark isn't the same thing as evil in Pokémon.
