New fic, would love opinions/ideas

Good morning, Good afternoon, Good evening and Good night to all who are reading this. I have decided to give up on my previous tales of the gym leaders series because I completely lost motivation and any idea I came up with melted into mediocrity when I tried to continue. To any who were looking froward to new entries I apologise but if its any consolation I have a new idea, one which I hope to stick with and not flake out on. My idea is a journey fic. Many of you may be sick of journey fics as there are a lot out there but I plan to make mine very different. Its set in Kanto but it is also long after red's time. I have two main differences. Firstly its going to have pokemon from all regions interspersed throughout which should add some variety. My main change is the fact that gyms are no longer in towns but instead are in Kanto's landmarks. An example of this is the first 'gym' which is charlottes bug gym in viridian forest. What I would love from all you lovely people is ideas for what landmarks could be used and what types they would be and if its not too much to ask some gym leader ideas. I look forward to your ideas and hope to start writing later this month when my exams are over.
 
How long after Red's journey this would be set?

Because if you figure this out, then you can determine which of the existing Gym Leaders would be alive, and which of them would be dead, and then by personality, who would keep their position, and who wouldn't?

Personally, I don't see Janine quitting, as she seems to be the type who wants to walk in her father's footsteps.
 
Since you have the first Gym figured out, I suggest either the Pewter Museum (Rock Pokémon, only Fossils) or Mt. Moon (Mixed) for the second. Cerulean Cave could be for Water Pokémon as the third Gym, while the rest depend on how you want them to be geographically. You could use Mt. Moon as the third, as the Cerulean Cave as the fourth, but that seems too close to each together.
 
yeah I was thinking Mt moon originally but I love the idea of of the pewter museum even if it is a bit close to the first gym. I'm probably gonna add more than eight gyms in but then not necessarily do them in the right order so I will probably use the pewter museum but he might come back to it later on in the story just so I can space out the gym battles. I probably won't use cerulean cave seen as its known for its ridiculously high level pokemon but maybe I'll use the cerulean cape place where you battle suicune.
 
Personally, I think that this is cooler than just having gyms in cities. Some ideas off the top of my head: a water-type gym in a sunken SS Anne, ghost-type gym in the hidden chambers of Lavender Town's "House of Memories," electric-type gym in the Power Plant (now run down again), maybe something in the Silph Co Building or Seafoam Islands? Also, how are you going to handle Cinnabar? Rebuilt, or still just a volcano? Plenty of opportunity for a fire-type gym inside the volcano if its still there.

Also, be sure to include some other kind of storyline alongside the gym quest. You've got a good idea in this landmark gym thing, but I don't know if it's enough to make the fic stand out from all the others by itself. Just my opinion.

The Safari Zone! You can't forget that. Maybe have a Gym where it used to be.
 
All these ideas are great and I love them, Sunken SS Anne is a definite gym because it really fits in with part of the story that I haven't revealed yet. I'll probably put the power plant in because, again, I can definitely make it ruined again. I don't think I'll use the house of memories cause I think it would seem a bit disrespectful if your paying respects to a dead pokemon and you hear someone scream "Charizard use fire blast". I don't think I'll have the safari zone as a gym but I'll probably do something with it. Seafoam and cinnabar would be ice and fire respectively but I'll probably use one or the other. There is an extra dimension to this fic but I've got it pretty much covered and I want to leave it as a surprise for when I start uploading but it should prove interesting and will also tell you what happened to some of the old kantoan people and places.
 
Diglett tunnel won't be possible for reasons I can't yet reveal but I think I will use the mall seen as there is quite a lot I can do with it but I might also use the sylph tower for the same purpose so it'll be one or the other. I'm also gonna put a list of current gyms so you can get an idea of them:
Viridian forest
Mt Moon
Cereulean cape
Power Plant
Celadon/Sylph Tower
Sunken S.S.Anne
Seafoam/Cinnabar Island
Pewter Museum
I think this most likely gonna be the final list but if you come up with any other ideas I might rethink or at least use what you've come up with in some way.
 
Exams are done and I've fleshed out a few main characters but I really want some ideas for a team. So far I have a pokemon from Unova and Kanto chosen but I want one from each region so your ideas would be most welcome.
