I've read through a few threads here on the forum, and I've discovered I'm not alone in wanting a way to play through the games again without 1) having to lose my mons or 2) buying the game again. I LOVE the post game, but sometimes i want to see what it'd be like to play through with a different starter, or with a different strategy etc.

Who else would like to see this implemented down the line? how would you do it?

It would never happen, because it means less sales for Nintendo.

I don't rebuy them anyway. I don't think most do. I MAY buy a third version if its got enough interesting features, but I doubt most players are gonna buy another copy of the same game JUST for the storyline.

I get buying the game for the other mons/features/trading. But buying another for just the game, do people do that?

I'm honestly asking.

I buy all 3 versions, because 1) I don't like restarting games and losing my old pokemon, 2) This gives me the chance to use all 3 starts and make one of the versions into the ultimate version and have another version that I don't really care about and will restart every now and then and 3) My mom bought me all 3 versions when I was a kid so I continue to do it now.

On to the main topic now: You probably noticed I was one of the people advocating the New Game Plus feature. I think it would be cool to be able to replay the game with all of your old pokemon, while fighting the same trainers with higher level pokemon.

I have two friends who play. My younger brother plays casually and an overseas friend plays more seriously. We tend to get opposite versions and it usually ends up i'm the one who gets the odd version (for example my brother and my friend got HG, I got SS, they got W, I got Black) so i don't really need the alternate version to get the mons.

I like the idea of the third versions for all the extras they add on, but the trend of the remakes having all the features of the third version seems to be making third versions obsolete. I didn't get Platinum though i was tempted, but I got SS and now i have no reason to dip back into Sinnoh.

The only reason I personally would have to buy multiple versions is the storyline, and to me that's just not worth it. While they are fun, they're not masterful by any stretch of the imagination. :p

Yeah dont feel any need to get them all if you don't want to. For me, i've always done it this way so thats the way i'm going to keep doing it lol

The problem with this is duplicate Legendary Pokémon. There's no way, especially in BW, to avoid letting the player catch extra Legendary Pokémon, if there's a New Game + sort of option.

The best that could be hoped for would be the ability to VS Seeker everyone in the game, including Gym Leaders/Evil Bosses. (I miss N...)

It wouldn't be hard to work around this. Some ways to do this off the top of my head:

1) When you encounter the Legendaries in Game, it essentially imports the version you already have rather than generating a new one

2) Subsequent Legendaries are discarded after completion of the storyline

3) The player is forced to choose one of the two legendaries every time they are encountered in the story.

4) Storyline Legendaries (only storyline legendaries, not post game legendaries) are deleted at the beginning of the new game.

1) If I'm reading this correctly, you're saying that the game 'abducts' the Legendary Pokémon and forces you to catch it again with the same EVs, IVs, Moves, (level?) that it was when you started the game? What if that Pokémon isn't on the game card anymore?
2) If you 'lose' them, why let you catch them in the first place?
3) Same as the "What if it's been traded away?" problem from 1, but it also has a workaround of forcing you to battle a new one, anyway.
4) Why should it be different between the two? And same as 2.

I'd really like something like having 2 or 3 save files, not like you could trade between but most games you can have multiple save files

The closest we ever really got with this is through the console games like Colo. and Gale of Darkness but only if you had multiple memorycubes/cards.

Though tbh I do miss being able to start a new game without being forced to delete my real save file just to dick around with a temporary non-saving file like in g/s/c :C I never had the problem of a fam member deleting my saves because I made sure they couldn't even look at them.

I would love this but it will never happen :(

That's why I just want more content once the game has been complete. Battle frontiers, VS seekers, Gym leader rematches etc should not be left out of future titles and hopefully the worlds get bigger if the graphics never get much better.

I think that catching the legendary the second time around could be phased out, with you simply battling them and defeating them. If you had the pokemon on your cart before replaying, you'd obtain it by gift, or else be able to catch it again.

Alternatively, one of the conditions for replay could be your possession of the legendary pokemon.

I was thinking that one way to make a replay would be to "Pal Park" important pokemon of yours--you could catch/recatch some of the pokemon that you had in an earlier run. Pokemon that you've hatched could be gift pokemon, etc.
